I dislike him - wouldn't say hate.

He lost me when he abused the linesman for calling a foot fault at Wimbledon when it was a correct call, carried on like a true - insert that word that rymes with banker here - that day. No wonder he supports the Crows:p::D

Not sure he's an Andrew McLeod fan though ! :D

don't let his sister catch you though she will snap your neck.

I voted 'hate him" because neither of the others fit. I don't like really egocentric people and he seems to have his own brand of arrogance.
He seems to really relish his "star" status.

When you compare him with Patrick Rafter, well, there's just no comparison.

Pat Rafter is a really humble kind man. Have to agree Julia. :)

I don’t get how him and his missus are the focus of so many of those women’s magazines... all she did was act (being generous there) in a two bit aussie tv show and pop out a few kids. He gets on a tennis court and screams c'mon whenever his opponent stuffs up. :banghead:

What makes them so special? I think the hate thing goes for the publicity hunting couple… :2twocents

great points blue label! No idea, some people are awesome!

Guts for trying, but he should've retired on top instead of trying to fight through all his injuries. Time to move on and let some of the youngsters to come through.

I was always prepared to give him a bit of a go with all the on-court ranting... c'mon and all that, because I always thought he was punching way above his weight. He has to crank up the adrenaline to make up for lack of outright ability. (compare to the pure class of Federer)

But all the publicity whoring has put me right off. Into the "spontaneous vomit on sight" basket along with the likes of Lisa Curry.

The opening 5 setter against a seeded oponent could have gone either way. All credit to the man for working on a comeback. If he maintains the effort and self discipline I would not be surprised to see him in the winners cvircle again.

Don't they sell all those stories to the magazines?

Personally i can't stand the little creep. I heard a sports commentator criticising Gonzalez for taking a time out in the final set, accusing him of being unsportsman like, but he failed to mention Hewitt begging the organisers of the Aust Open to schedule his match so he played Gonzalez in the midday heat, believing his superior fitness would get him over the line, instead of playing at night which was the organisers preferred option. Is not influencing a draw unsportsman like (borderline cheating IMO)? Sucked in Hewitt guess you werent "one of the most dangerous unseeded players" as you proclaimed to be, you're just another first round loser. Hope you enjoy that 3-figure ranking next to your name now :D
While im on the subject, is anyone else sick of John Alexander being an apologist for Hewitt whilst commentating? Every winner makes Hewitt on the road back to being a top ten player, whilst every Hewitt error there is an excuse for (the wind, the sun, racquet tension, an airplane flying by... maybe i opened my beer to loudly over here in Perth while Hewy was serving and i put him off). Whereas Gonzalez winners were met with stony silence. Love Jim Courier though

Don't they sell all those stories to the magazines?
Insiders & close friends say they do ;).

I buy every Womans Day with Bec, Nicole or Katy (isn't she looking thin, it must be the Evil Tom?, we could ask a 'close freind' to find out the real truth?) on the cover .

But let's not knock the Hewitts, esp Beck, because she does look great after just 4 weeks after giving birth - I just have to know how she did it! What I'd like to see on the cover of Womans Day - Oprah gives birth to Lleytons child, Tom & Katy adopt a grieving Bec & convert her to Scientology!

I hate him for his arrogance and even hate him more that the commentators are so biased when he's playing.

On Pat Rafter...didn't he get a Australian of the year when he was living in a Caribbean tax haven ?
Rather un-Australian I thought....or have I got the story wrong?Do any of you Queenslanders know if he lives in Qld?
I had a meat pie at Rafter's bakery at Nambour a few years ago...bloody good ...highly recommended.

Great player, but doesnt have it anymore. Run out of energy after achieving his dreams but really just trying to prove himself to his parents. (i always thought they were cancerous to his career) He doesnt play out of pure passion like federer does, he often plays out of anger and negative emotion, so it was inevitable he would have a shortish time at the top. Although he has achieved more than any male australian player since the likes of newcombe, and thats saying something!
