As the economic crises appear earlier this year i have been wandering if the charting should be starting as a new data from the point of crisis ?

I know that everyone is looking at historical data related to years before, but : the market has changed since then dramatically, the demand is not the same as years before, political situation is not the same, resources are changing and so on....
Would this qualify for some adjusting with out comparison to historical data (say some years before) ?

Re: Ground Zero ?

wow really?

would a system that worked during pre 07 [ bull market] have worked in the last 18th months?

i certainly dont think trend/volitily are constants over stretches of time.
-but i guess market dynamics are ever-changing.

'maybe i missed the point of this thread though' :p:

My point exactly, current economical times are different today compared to pre 07.

Agree with tech. Its more of less the same participants in the market, the price action of the past was representative of the phycology at the time. Actions of the past help to obtain probabilities of what can happen in the future.

If it was designed to be a long method then no it wouldnt and you wouldnt be attempting to trade a long longterm method in these conditions would you?

The market has already to a large degree "Reset".
The market is always "resetting"

There are always lambs and wolves..
The wolves don't need to learn anything new
because slaughtered lambs never have that opportunity

Markets go through phases and
yes reset

And then new lambs line up
There will always be those who buy high and sell low
who believe what they are told

This is the real survivor bias
and one reason markets are in a sense always the same..

Well maybe that's the challenge to the die hard techo's - what are the charts 'saying' now? Sit on your hands and pray?;)

Exactly that - if you use charts/ta, what long investments would you be making right now, based on charts/ta?

None why?
Not today anyway.

Nett short would be the technical position and has been for some time.
See the XAO thread.
