Australian (ASX) Stock Market Forum

Good stocks to day trade?

Find it interesting that a topic is opened and the OP doesn’t participate.

For me at least participating in a topic encourages people who feel as though they have value to ad to post

I always leave gaps for people to
Hopefully fill in with their input. From there I’m
Looking for opinions , interpretation, and interactive discussion
In this case I’ve put up a live example I’m actually trading short term .

Others have reached out as well but no interaction so another dead rubber!

I think the OP started the thread and hasn't yet returned to see who has replied. Hopefully he will return.

In any case, I know that these kind of threads are useful to others. However getting others to post can be a little tricky as it is easier to just read and not take the time to put your thoughts down in writing. I would urge those reading who enjoy these kind of threads to ask questions and make comments as threads can lose momentum quickly if there isn't enough discussion. Something as little as an insightful observation, or an interesting question, can breathe some new life into a thread.

yes my experience at other forums , is there is a number of members that look and research without posting ( ever )

however forum profitability depends on 'eyeballs' more than content , so we cannot be too harsh , as they are important to a forum's existence as well .

and trading without parting with all your cash , is a tough game , you need a solid network ( internet connection ) a helpful platform , a solid computer/monitors set-up , plenty of learning and good news/data feeds ( which you often have to pay for ) and the government and bourse see you as a cash cow to help relieve you of any profits

so calculating how much profit you need to compensate for your time and resources , is not so easy either

and of course unlike investing ( where you might not trade for weeks/months/years ) you need to be close to up-to-date information try doing that hanging around a hospital most of the day ( as i was in 2016 and 2017 ) ( MRIs and X-Ray machines don't like phones )

and let's face it most new traders still need to earn an income elsewhere until they are able to survive on trading profits , that means a j-o-b ( bosses aren't happy about phone/text addicts )

now one good thing about the OP was he/she a a price target range instead of 'diving for pennies '

ALSO trader's favourites can change over the years , i remember when the traders pummeled BSL trapping it well below $1 until management did a share consolidation ( one of the few successful ones )

Yes, more than you would think. There are people who have been here for 15 years or more, who visit regularly and have never posted.

Ultimately it is about content. Without content there are no eyeballs. When you have more content, the amount of eyeballs increase. Inversely, less content leads to fewer eyeballs. When there's this sense that you need to visit a website regularly to keep up with the new content being posted, people tend to do it. When there is less content to consume people tend to drift away. I have watched this happen on and off for years.

The quality of content is obviously a critical factor, and that plays into it as well. But to get eyeballs you need content and to keep those eyeballs, and to attract new ones, you need a lot of fresh content to keep people engaged in the community. Content is the fuel that keeps this community moving. Remove it and it you run out of petrol and end up stranded by the side of the road.

I have trouble understanding why someone would want to join any forum but stay mute.
Surely it is not that hard to put one's thoughts in print and see what the responses might be.
Or do we have a group of nervous nellies in the wings, and perhaps a little frightened by someone's responses to them.

shyness is usually the big one , others just utilize the resources supplied here

there is a lot to learn about investing not just which stocks to put money into , for newer investors learning a bit of market history say what happened at ASX level in the GFC , the dip of 2011, 2020 and whose knows we might have the next financial journalist training here

and let's face it everybody should know a little bit about stocks nowdays because their super fund will have some sort of stock exposure either via stocks , ETFs , LICs on managed funds .

Everyone is different.

Been here 15+ years under 1,00 posts.
(funny 'cause this user name was a complete post whore on a rugby league forum 15+ years ago)
