Funniest post on ASF this year

There was a thread started by Julia about stupid things we had all done. Maybe about 3 months ago - Julia's example was when she returned an item to an electrical store because the plug didnt fit, then realised she hadnt taken off the protective layer.

Then there was the lost sunglasses on your head etc etc....

(Sorry Jules but that was really funny - looks like you are in the running for two nominations....)

That's OK, Prospector. I'm the first to acknowledge my own ineptitude.
If it provides some amusement for the rest of you, then I'll accept it with grace. (Well, I'll try.)

I can actually add to embarrassing list of dumb things I have done with the following:
Last week I was constantly being disconnected. Much talk and little remedy from my ISP. Reluctance on their part to call Telstra to establish if the problem was a line fault. As the days wore on, with me getting dropped out every few minutes, and having done all their "troubleshooting" of getting modum checked, etc, etc. I'd finally had enough. Thinking by now I knew their 1300 phone number off by heart, I dialled and automatically entered my details with the prompts, consumed by anger and frustration. Eventually a person came on the line. I was too full of myself to even listen to what he said, and began a rant to end all rants, demanding some ***** action from Telstra immediately or I'd close my account.

There was a short pause on the other end, then the person very quietly and politely said: "I think perhaps there's been a mistake. This is E-trade".

Did I feel foolish? Absolutely. Apologised profusely and explained what had happened. Sympathy from the E-trade operator who earned some brownie points for diplomatic management of a dopey customer.

Lesson: giving in to anger impairs one's judgment.

Just read the post by insider (post # 53 on the gf going abroad thread).
Very very funny. A natural with the chicks. I'm still chuckling. (That post was in jest, right? :D )

That's right Fathers lock up your daughters because Insider's in town :D

I go into too much detail sometimes... I should leave you all wondering, "How did that guy get a girl like that, she can do so much better than him... He must be rich!"

You probably have more chance of getting Etrade to fix the internet than Telstra!

Pretty much anything posted by StockybailX... I maintain that guy had to be a wind-up... But then again the democratisation of the stockmarket has resulted in all sorts "playing the market"...

I thought this was pretty funny when I reread what I'd posted....it is a winning stock though....now anyway.....

Wouldn't it be nice to find out it CURES a few common bad diseases and got some big TV exposure......then we could see the 10 year graph looking like a big bowl...................so we have something to put all those profits into, lol.

Anyway here's the story I heard about how they got started.

When they just started, and were called Travelshop, one of the directrors was over in Russia sorting out the new booming USSR side of the travel business, just after 9/11 happened and the s/p was skydiving because no-one wanted to travel.
Lamenting the company's severe troubles and sitting in a bar getting sloshed on vodka, he struck up a conversation with an equaly sloshed Russian scientist, who was lamenting the countries troubles and the useless government, and also the fate of the research he was working on, due to the fact the govt. was more interested in other things at the time.
Anyway after a great night out with more booze and a couple of Russian spunks, they swapped numbers and kept in touch.
A few months later the directors were in a pub getting sloshed and lamenting the rapidly dying Travelshop, when he started talking about the Russian trip and his mate over there, and his research, when in a haze of booze fueled discussion they had commited themselves to sell Travelshop, go to Russia, drink lots of vodka, meet lots of Russian babes and catch up with this Russian scientist to see what coud be done about his predicament.
After a few weeks there they had managed to convince Russian officials, with bottles of vodka and Russian babes, that the only way to make any use of this research was to let a private company in on the act, papers were signed, patents applied for and here we are today, sitting on what is potentialy a huge company.

Well I thought is was funny.....SLA up 80% since I posted this 3 months ago...

Merry Xmas All......

oops I see now it was already posted again by rub2me

Funniest thing is, it is now up 230-250% up since I bought in 5 months ago and hardly anyone took any notice of me cause they thought I was a drongo.....and I recon it's got a long way to go yet....lololol all the way to the bank.
