As the year draws to a close, and ASF has cracked the 100,000 posts, I think a little reflection on what made us laugh this year would be in order.

So here's the contest: please nominate the funniest post(s) you've seen this year (i.e. posted from 1/1/2006 onwards). If we get enough participants, I may pick an arbitrary top 10 (based on repeat nominations or some consensus from other members) and we can have a poll to pick the winner early in the New Year. Let's see how it goes. Maybe Joe can throw in a free turkey for the winner to get people interested?

no way, not that easy ! " I've got a free cat too " post by chopsamust had me in tears the morning he posted it! Just looked it up then and im still laughing ....sorry to all the cat lovers out there!
 
I remember when I first joined...
There was a post related to a dog that needed a home.... His name was Kahn, one of the biggest **** stirs of the year I recon!

I agree with Minty, the Analyst explaining about his family's problems on the Find a home for Khan thread

Hey Mint Man,

I started that thread in total good faith. Kahn was bred by a friend of mine who sold him to some people who were moving and couldn't take the dog with them. It was an entirely genuine attempt to find a good home for a gorgeous dog.

Why did you find it funny?

If anyone is actually interested, Kahn eventually found a great home.

I think that was Smurf's cat, Gundini, not sure though. I've never had cats.
I had the German Shepherd who ran to me in fear when a cat chased her!

Heavens, I'd quite forgotten about the Analyst. Yes, I think that gets my vote for the funniest post ever. From memory, he even wanted me to phone his mother to try to sort her out!!!

I guess we should be more sympathetic, but it really was very funny.

Thanks for reminding me.

Another one occurred at the height of the feud between Tech/a and Bullmarket when Bullmarket made some incredibly lengthy and thoroughly tedious objection to something Tech had said. Tech's reply was:

"Oh, God".

The funniest posts of the year came from a certain investor who is repeatedly accused of ramping… Well I won’t mention any names… I’m not getting personal… But this is why you should not ramp…

I thought this was pretty funny when I reread what I'd posted....it is a winning stock though....now anyway.....

Wouldn't it be nice to find out it CURES a few common bad diseases and got some big TV exposure......then we could see the 10 year graph looking like a big bowl...................so we have something to put all those profits into, lol.

Anyway here's the story I heard about how they got started.

When they just started, and were called Travelshop, one of the directrors was over in Russia sorting out the new booming USSR side of the travel business, just after 9/11 happened and the s/p was skydiving because no-one wanted to travel.
Lamenting the company's severe troubles and sitting in a bar getting sloshed on vodka, he struck up a conversation with an equaly sloshed Russian scientist, who was lamenting the countries troubles and the useless government, and also the fate of the research he was working on, due to the fact the govt. was more interested in other things at the time.
Anyway after a great night out with more booze and a couple of Russian spunks, they swapped numbers and kept in touch.
A few months later the directors were in a pub getting sloshed and lamenting the rapidly dying Travelshop, when he started talking about the Russian trip and his mate over there, and his research, when in a haze of booze fueled discussion they had commited themselves to sell Travelshop, go to Russia, drink lots of vodka, meet lots of Russian babes and catch up with this Russian scientist to see what coud be done about his predicament.
After a few weeks there they had managed to convince Russian officials, with bottles of vodka and Russian babes, that the only way to make any use of this research was to let a private company in on the act, papers were signed, patents applied for and here we are today, sitting on what is potentialy a huge company.


Well I thought is was funny.....SLA up 80% since I posted this 3 months ago...

Ummmmmyeah...I also had a giggle on hotcopper.....I got booted but.....

I said I had a cat that picked all my stocks by me writing down 100 on postits and the 5 that stuck were the ones to back.....

Someone on hotcopper sent that blurb to the Sydney Morning Herald and they wrote it up......is there a prisze for the funniest stuff to happen...???
