However there are a number of traders who don't look at fundamentals & have a technical strategy which can be profitable.

I do agree with this.
Just my view that most people doing TA have also a relatively good understanding of the FA, but rely mainly on their TA. The other way around is not true (again, my view).
Personally I find TA the next level to get into after getting a grip on the FA.
I know some people jump straight into TA, with different degrees of success.
I do respect any approach that gets the desired results, though.
