Well, we had a LOT of rain, but instead of it being concentrated in one or two concentrated bursts, it just rained steadily for a long time. Which is the best way to get it. And more rain is expected over the next few days so it wont disappear with heat! Christmas Day - 20 with showers! My gosh, I was thinking the temp might be double that! Great weather for traditional roast!
I went to the local bottle shop and it was amazing to see people just walking about in the rain, and smiling. Not worrying about getting wet.
The lightening storm was one of the best I had ever seen here - sheet lightening lighting up the whole sky for seconds at a time.
A few years ago in our old house, lightening struck a giant pine tree in a neighbours house two doors over at around midnight! The noise was horrendous, it was like a bomb had exploded. A Crack noise just indescribable. The next day we could see the damage that had been caused. This giant tree had been blown out of the ground! All the windows of the houses next to and across the road had been blown in. The sewerage pipes were all blown up (tree roots in the pipes) The tree had crushed their house, we had solid branches 3 feet long scattered over our yard. At one stage there were six glass repair vans working on houses that had been damaged. Never want to see or hear that again.
Raining again now. Wonderful. I think maybe the eastern states are getting it next so hopefully this will put out the fires. And wouldnt that be the best Christmas present!
