Greetings All.

Fcharts software - web page information sounds good .
Any advice on this software please ?.

Bob.

Bob,

The free version is cheap

It's actually not too bad either if you just want to display basic charts. I've never used the $$ version, but I think if you're going to pay for something, AmiBroker might be a better choice.

I use it and love it, trade tester is great

Try the free trial to see for yourself.
Also author is great with responses to questions and requests

Thanks G.P. & bvbfan,
What data do you use for E.O.D. with it ?.

Thinking of paying for the pro Fcharts so as to use the import of codes.
Any advice as the other one is too advanced for my brain. :(

Regards Bob.

I use float.com.au for data, which is free.

However, you get what you pay for, so you have to handle splits, merges, etc. by yourself.

I've got to agree with GP.

Fcharts is OK, but if you're going to spend money get Amibroker - it's very good.

I also use float.com.au for my data, though if you're are comsec client you can get some data from them as well.

Hi RodC,
I've read that Amibroker is difficult to use if you're not a programmer type.
What do you think ? please.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to do portfolio testing of systems and set up your own highly customised charts with Interpretation I would go for Amibroker.

If you want to do some basic stuff and aren't interested in setting mechanical trading systems you could try something else. AmiBroker is the best charting software that I have used, and I did look at Fcharts some time back. You can just use AB as a basic charting package or you can get into higher level coding to test ideas that you have. I would recommend AmiBroker to anyone without hesitation.
