Well I can pretty much answer the first part of my question. If God/higher being was proven, it would simply be covered up by the scientific community.
Why? Just curious.
Download the movie and watch it and you'll know why. Or you could wait until it comes out in Australia (next month I think)
If God was proven by the scientists I would want to know which churches he/she was affiliated with.
If the Catholics featured in that list I would be on the phone to Father O'whatsisface to enquire if the confession/forgiveness deal was still happening and if so, could I make an appointment to explain a few misunderstandings.
On one of the God/Religion threads I asked a hypothetical question:
What would happen if we woke up tomorrow and a scientist had unquestionable proof that God or higher being existed?
Have to admit I found the book a little "ranty"; I probably wanted to like it more than approach it with an open mind, despite not being agnostic. He said "The God delusion" by Richard Dawkins was a crap book, and did not address the question in the direction that professionals who deal with sufferers of fixed delusion focus on.
I thought it was a very dull book too.
If God or a higher being was proven, what makes you assume he'd be affiliated with a church/religion?
I should also add, I am on neither side of the if God or higher being exists/doesn't exist debate. I respect peoples beliefs, but I simply think it is ignorant to completely rule out the possibilities.

Why would they forgo the opportunity to study the universe's biggest question?
cheers,
