Don't mind me, got a chq from the Tax Off today, so opened a bottle of cheap fizzy wine. :D :D :D

Sorry I presumed he was a successful trader.

Sorry that was my bad.
Can you please explain to me how a successful trader would get regular (3months) cheques from the ATO and why?

Nizar
Successful traders usually have to pay the tax office every three months (quarterly PAYG installment), well I certainly do.
Maybe after all I am not successful.
I just got my quarterly for Oct to Dec today have to pay them by 28th Feb.

How do you manage to get a cheque of them?

I always have to pay them every three months.

Actually it was my tax return. :D Ex Boss paid a lot more tax for me than he had to. (situation normal) & I sent my return in late (also situation normal).
So you wont hear this often, esp on this forum, "Thanks ATO" :p: :D :p:

Any suggestion on where to go to get this deal would be much welcome :)
Be wary of going over to ETrade. I recently moved from ComSec to ETrade on the back of a promise of 10 free trades. However, after 7 trades they charged me brokerage on my 8th trade. When I told them they first denied it, but then put it down to a computer error. They didn't want to give me a refund, but another free trade instead. I spoke to one of the managers there this morning and she was rude and bothered about the situation. In the end I hope I do get a refund of brokerage paid as ETrade broke their promise of 10 free trades without even an apology. I'll be finding a newe broker very shortly as ETrade is very frustrating and arrogant to deal with.

I am thinking to open an Etrade account and transfer some of my COMSEC shares into it to benefit from the $550 worth of trade. When creating an Etrade account do I need to open a saving account as well to link for payment of transactions or can I use my CDIA or any other CBA account ?

I had the same thing happen last year, and got the same reaction from them, rude and arrogant. Never did get the refund, only the extra trades after much argument. Anytime anything goes wrong, it seems you get the same reaction, denial followed by arrogant dismissal. I think they regard customers as a necessary evil they have to tolerate in order to make a profit.

That is interesting feedback but then $550 worth of trades for just transfering shares in my case from Commsec to Etrade for 2 months is still worth a try.
I actually just tried to open an Etrade account on line but the HIN number provided by Commsec is rejected by the Etrade site saying that is incorrect. Would you know how to check this as I understand this HIN number is the same for all my Commsec shares?

Thanks
