DOWNER AWARDED CONTRACT BY AUCKLAND AIRPORT
Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced that its subsidiary company, Hawkins Limited (Hawkins), had been awarded a contract valued at approximately NZ$800 million to deliver the building works for the new Domestic Jet Terminal at Auckland Airport (Project).
Work will commence in September 2024 and is scheduled to be completed in 2029.Hawkins has been working collaboratively with Auckland Airport in an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI)phase since February 2022 and is also currently on site delivering an enabling work package for the Domestic Jet Terminal under a separate contract.
The Project will be delivered under a collaborative contract model with customer-supplied main design drawings and includes three packages of work – a new Head house, a new 240 metre gate pier, and land-side civil works.
Over the course of the five-year delivery program, trade packages will be progressively prepared by Hawkins and tendered to the subcontract market on an open book basis.
Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Peter Tompkins, said: “Hawkins has a long-standing relationship with Auckland Airport dating back almost 40 years, and we have been working collaboratively together through the ECI phase of this Project on delivery timelines and contract value estimates.
“Our strategy for Hawkins is focused on securing high quality revenue streams consistent with our risk appetite parameters with customers who value our expertise and track record.
Hawkins has a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering key projects in New Zealand, and we will leverage our deep network of high quality subcontractors to deliver this important world class asset that will serve New Zealanders, airlines and travellers well into the future.”
