DOG REWARDED FOR BITING SEX ATTACKER

A dog that saved a 16-year-old girl from a sexual assault in Brisbane last week will receive an award for bravery.
Jesse, a three-year-old dachshund, bit the man when he attacked his owner.
The girl was the 36th reported victim of sex attacks in parks and on bikeways in Brisbane.
The dog will be presented with an Animal Achievement Award and a big bone.
RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty says Jesse is a worthy recipient.
"If it hadn't been for Jesse, his young owner could literally have been in very, very, very serious trouble," he said.
"It was purely due to the actions of Jesse that the young girl was able to make her escape."

All fine, but I could not resist some thoughts.

It is possible that dog is going to bite somebody and without witnesses will be quite easy make offender out of victim.

Also, if it is OK for dog to injure attacker but not OK for victim to injure attacker without some fear for usual defence procedures.
Including that we have no right to deliver justice, that perpetrator is not guilty until proven guilty.

I am not saying that attacker will not be found guilty, but victim or potential victim will not be automatically rewarded if injures attacker, will be only found not guilty of bodily harm.

Looks like big difference between being a dog and human.

The poor dog is always the one to be put but first, when incidents with dogs n people come up so this is a pleasent change... not that I'm big on rspca twisted pov.

Perhaps the dog could have bit attacker after court case, to avoid legal issues or being put down...???? :D

Ahhh. another 16yr old girl lives with no physchocial scarring thanks to Man best Friend....only expecting to recive a feed, scratch & lick the feet of the hand that feeds him.

p.s perhaps attacker was after money, instead of sex...???? :D

You had to read that before you figured out that there a difference between dogs and humans.

We do have the right to defend ourselves.

Well, good on the little dog. I've always regarded dachsunds as a sort of joke (real dogs are German Shepherds) but this one clearly had no doubts about where his heart was, even if he couldn't inflict much damage.

These attacks on women are becoming a huge problem in Brisbane.
Now suggested more than one attacker is involved.

Pity it was a dachsund, if it was a larger, taller dog it may have been able to bite a bit higher...

Girl's best friend. Dogs are the greatest aren't they. Faithful to the end.

As long as I dont have to bite every dog that tries to give my bitch a hard time. :2twocents

Yes, but after injuring somebody we do not immediately get rewarded, we have to prove self-defence, we have to explain things, and often we are judged not offenders.

And here? Instant reward.

happy - dont know the details , but I guess the attacker had made his intentions plain.
As for rewarding dogs.. ) - went through a check at Launceston airport- small beagle dog there to check fruit - sure enough the lady behind me had an apple - dog finds it - gets reward - tailwagging goes into overdrive - dog then proceeds to find fruit on everyone!! lol. maybe was first day on the job ;)
