As of yesterday me too.

Yep, predominantly in cash too, partly because I'm revamping my trading plan- had a bit of a scare when I realised I'd stuffed up. Also looking to short if there is a lower risk entry.

With so many people cashing up, the banks must be flushed with deposits.

A word of caution for all readers - avoid all those non bank deposit takers offerring 8% to 9%. The risk is overly high.

G'day RichKid,

Looking for shorts?

Noticed how the Myer stores have perpetual and permanent sales advertised in the newspapers? Is there a clue in there?

Might find value with "paper shorts" and clothing type shorts at the same time :D

there was a story about a guy who won a "pretend" share trading competition and decided to give up his job to become a day trader.

I'm wondering if this guy even used any strategy at all in the competition but most likely got lucky! I think it looks obvious he never read about the risks involved in day trading, or trading for that matter, thought it was all too easy, for jumping in and thinking it was quick easy money he got what he diserved in a way.

Agree 100% Investor, most of these offers are for mezzanine fainance deals which, given the current level of uncertainty in the property markets, increases their risk.

For the record, still work fulltime, mixture of technical ST trades and long term fundamental trades/investments. Any profits I make on the ST stuff goes into the LT investments to keep my risk at an acceptable level.

Being undercapitalised, I am not kept all that busy.
But trading is all I do.
Each trading day, I spend a few hours researching and a few hours watching watchlists and wishlists.
I have a head full of trivia, but all of my capital is continuously tied up.
Completely misreading the GFC, believing it would be eclipsed by the Chinese commodity boom, has temporarily left me in dire straits.
