Democracy - Australians should be proud

Brandis reminds us that casting a vote is not the compulsory side of the equation. It's the marking off from the electoral roll ones name and being handed the ballot paper/s.

What one does after that is a choice but failing to actually cast a vote, is a dereliction of one's civic duty and a smack to the face of fellow electors and our democracy.

I look upon voting in all elections here in Australia as an absolute privilege.
Where you can see footage in other countries where people die for the right to vote.
It really gets right up my left nostril when I hear about people here complaining that voting is just a waste of their time.
Be thankful that we have democracy here.

Seeing the absolute shambles the USA elections are in, one'd think making voting complusory would be a shoo-in to shut the naysayers up.

...and don't even get me started on Russia, China, Nth Korea, Hungary et all...
