Hi I am currently dabbling in shares in my spare time using commsec

I wanted to know what is the best software or website for me to use so that I can
A> see live share prices
B> See previous days share prices by the minute

thanks all
Jamie

For "B" try bigcharts
http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/symbollookup/symbollookup.asp

To get an ASX chart preface the ASX code with "au:",
so "au:wbc" will give you the chart of Westpac, for example.

Choose the "Advanced Chart" or "Interactive Chart" and you can view minute bars. There is a 20-minute delay (at least) on data, so you can view previous day no problem at all.

(ps. This is a free option, if you want to pay for data/software there are other possibilities).

I find commsec quite clunky for day trading.
I only use them for long term share investment (i.e. buy and hold for 1-5 years)

For day trading, IHMO, I reckon trading platforms like "IG Market" is much better. Capital is low and trade only cost $8 instead of $20-$100.

Plus you get to go "short" on shares, which is a lot more difficult on commsec.

Try PariTrade. They use the Pulse software, which lets you display 1-minute charts for a week and daily charts down to 1 second or even single trades ("ticks").

Ideal for Intraday quickies for another reason: They bundle up to 12 Intraday trades (same stock, same direction) on one contract note for one brokerage, I never got to that limit (yet), nor to the other one: $25 for anything sub-$100K and a few pennies extra if it's more than $100K.

Guys,
I trade trade with a bit of a weird strategy, it's been really hard recently to make any real money, so i've been doing some research and it seems there are tons of websites selling you some kind of software, i would like to know if anybody has actually spend the 50-1000 dollars and brought one of these programs and what ended up happing?

Wanted to add on that i'm talking about the software that actually draws up trends and advices you on what to do, based on whatever type of facts.

I know a lot of daytraders who use SPARK software and swear by it . It isnt cheap but it does have a lot of unique features and the developer will try and accomodate requests to add to the system . I have no affiliation with the company
