Commsec's new site

In general, very pleased with the new site. Most things are easy enough to find and, now that the dust has settled, it works very well. There were a few teething troubles when it first went live, but these are all sorted now. (Well, all mine were.) It would be nice to see a little more customisablity over time, particularly for the "accounts" page - I want to see volume, and I want to see loss/gain % on the day, not just $ value - but overall, the new Comsec site works fast and effectively.

Hi
Anyone else having problems with the Commsec website tonight?
According to my portfolio all my shares are now worth zero.... Big plunge for CBA for example...

That happens to me every now and then...

Just logged on now and it seems fine, but sometimes it shows everything as 0 value and all the financial data is blanked out. It usually goes away in an hour or so.

Thanks Klogg - I just checked again and all is well. CBA did not plummet to $0.00 after all!

A week or so ago the new research tools were released. They seem to be splashier, more visual. Shorty after the release they had some kind of online feedback option to rate the updates. I believe in feedback - especially if I'm not happy about something. I provided feedback about the changes to how much harder it was to find the upcoming dividends. In the last 1 or 2 days the site news had a guide on how to find upcoming dividends. Today I followed the guide. I was not happy so I used the site's general feedback link. Someone just phone me from one of the CBA groups responsible for the site. They acknowledged the upcoming dividends is less informative compared to the previous version. I used the example of WOW - it is not listed in the upcoming dividends (I have a hunch the webtool providing a small list of upcoming divs is based on ex-div date set in the future) and it is fiddly to need to go to the company research to get that information. The person on the phone said my feedback will be fed back up the chain to see if the technical group are going to update.

Does anyone else find the new version of upcoming divs is not as useful as it was?

Does the COMMSEC display live data when looking at quotes including prices, trades and portfolio etc?

COMMSEC told me that there is a 20 minute delay
-- I assume they said this to cover themselves should a delay arise!!

I currently have a WESTPAC trading account which is live!

commsec is definitely live, even for options, if you have an actual account. maybe they were referring to some sort of trial or guest mode or something when they mentioned the 20 minute delay.

i've had to resort to using my dormant, unfunded commsec account to check the prices before placing trades thru IB, as due to cost costbacks at work i no longer have access to the live bloomie + reuters market terminals i had before, and i'm too cheapskate to pay the (professional) market data fees on IB when i can still get live prices for free on commsec.

i can see my order appear on commsec immediately after i transmit it to IB (there is very little depth in options compared to stocks so i know it is definitely my order). if my dormant, unfunded commsec account that i haven't traded thru for 4 or 5 years since switching to IB is still showing live prices, then surely anyone who's commsec account is actually active will have live prices too.

re the prior post on dividends (didn't see it originally as i only joined here in may) - yeah i agree, it's harder to find a list of upcoming dividends on the site now. i've switched to looking that info up from intelligentinvestor.com.au. don't need to be a member, the upcoming dividends section is freely accessible, as is the section conveniently next to it covering upcoming reporting dates which is also handy to have which helps trade around earnings events.

+1
I do the same - don't pay for data on IB, but use Commsec for live prices, research etc. I hate the changes they've made to the upcoming div info, thanks for the info re intelligentinvestor.com.au.

and now it looks like intelligentinvestor has gotten a bit lax with updating their upcoming dividends page. probably the reporting dates page as well - can't seem to find FGE on there, and surely they have to be reporting soon. anyone have any other recommendations for a site that has clear, easy to read summaries of upcoming divs and reporting dates?
