Comsec have changed the way their website works.

I just use the standard, no pro trader or anything, which is what im sure the vast majority use.

Id just like to add my two cents worth to say that the changes are terrible.

Now much harder to navigate, market depth is now much smaller and much harder to read.

As much as Comsec have techinal glitches from time to time, which ive unfortunatley suffered from, the website worked.

Why change something that worked????? Seems their IT folk have to justify their presence at comsec. I'll be writing to them.

Thoughts?

(Edit - sorry Mods, i realise now this might be in the wrong forum, maybe should be in trading/investing resources)

I have just been on commsec site and cannot access the company announcements. I get transferred to Huntley Projects site. Do you have the same problem?

yes, that often happens from time to time. Particularly when the market is closed or on weekends. Sometimes it works to keep trying, or shut down and start again. Alternatively, head to the company's website for the research.

Not much different to me (really). if the font size is an issue, just increase it in your web browser. (If you didn't tell me I would not have noticed)

I actually can't view my watchlists. They just aren't there.

Anyones else's gone?

I can view 1 watchlist via 'custom portfolio'. But only 1, and it doesny give all the information I got through the old one.

Hi,

I have only used the website a couple of times.....

I found the website very hard to use it came to trading.... I found it had no infromation that I need on hand if I was trading...

I also found the website to be slow when I logged on and wanted to do a trade or get upto date information.

So I moved to Pro Trader and I would never go back....

I hope it's inproved alot as I think etrade has a good web interface..

Any way just my 2 cents worth..

chef_dave,

I cannot change from watch list 1 to watch list 2 under custom portfolio. I can however view multiple watch lists if I add these to favourites. Does seem a tad odd.

Seems there are some glitches in the new design. It is probably a good idea to let them know. Click on the "Service difficulties" link down the bottom left-hand-side of the log-in page, (Tiny letters) and follow the prompts, and let them know what your problem is.

They only recommend two browsers, Internet Explorer (IE) or Netscape. IE for Macintosh is no longer supported and has not been updated for years, but they still recommend it for Mac users. Not very good PR for the quickly growing numbers of Mac users out there.

I use a Mac and FireFox. My watchlists no longer come up, but I found a work-around that may work for others too. Instead of going to a watchlist, go to a custom portfolio, then click on "Actions" and choose "Chart", then click on the "Watchlist" link below the chart and hopefully your watchlist will come up as it does for me.

I just noticed while I am typing this, that the web site seems to have switched back to the old design again. Sigh....

Interest that I can now view Options & Equities watchlists from the same watchlist page. This will cut down a couple of clicks whilst checking progress, happy with that change at least.

Having the same problem...

Can get to it eventually but not directly... seems odd.

I seriously wonder about the dills that run Comsec.............

"fly on the wall at the meeting"

OK the software team advise the upgrade is ready................

Any bugs ? maybe we should test it first !

Well why don't we upgrade on a quiet weekend,

OK, how about 30 June, it's winter, that might be a quiet weekend, won't be many people checking their stocks then,

OK :banghead::banghead:

LOL!!!! Sounds like the finance industry to me....
Comsec working ok now, I think...
I guess we'll get used to it. But it is harder to read depth and watchlists.

Maybe im just old school, but i hardly use my watchlists, only because i am looking mostly at market depth - finding out what the price of the share is and turnover isnt a complete picture without seeing the depth.

And because im flicking between a dozen or more different shares on any given day, it makes it much more conveniant to use the intial page, what is now called "quotes and trading".

And thats where the major change for me occurs, whereas previously i could just use the keyborad, to type in share codes, now i have to use the mouse to click on the code/search button. Its an extra step that i dont need. Easily fixed by allowing the cursor to hit that code box, as it did previosuly.

In addition, whereas previously if i didnt know the code of the share i could type a few letters of the name and it would give me a list of options. Now i have to wait for a pop up box, which gives me the options, i have to click on one, and it drops the asx code into the code box. Then i have to again click the get quote button to see the depth!!

To me they are only minor changes, but they result in an inconveniance thats not needed. Maybe i am being picky, but given the market can move extremely quickly, adding time to each search is a major disappointment.

The only reason i can think of for the change to the quotes page is to cut down on their bandwidth. I cant think of anything else.

You'll never see me in your market depths
I don't like waiting in queues

Sorry ,but that's just the sort of guy I am

Salute and Gods' speed

Yup!! Home page doesn't even load.

FWIW I agree about the depth thing too. They've made a couple of extra functions available at the expenses of making the ones I use all the time more difficult.

Back to the drawing board guys. But not till you restore a site that works.

Ghoti (Look boss. Here's the memo. We TOLD you that cutting the test team was dangerous)

Re: comsec

Er.. Well in this house I can't load the home page and my spouse logged out because it was so slow.

I was in there on Saturday and Sunday and it changed a bit between the 2 days. Fortunately - on Saturday the only way I could get to my watchlists was through custom portfolio. Looks to me like some manglement ninny insisted on rolling it out before it was properly tested. They probably had a contracting team to do the upgrade and wouldn't extend the contract past June 30.

It seems to be heaps faster now. I can actually move between pages! They must have turned on overdrive...

Well - I'm along way away - but HEAPS slower for me.
watchlists work but reloading anything is painfully slow...

????????????WHY????????????
