CommSec Web Trading Platform - FAQ and Tips

Re: CommSec Questions

Commsec will debit/credit the balance of the trade to/from your account. Same goes if you sell $2000 worth of shares from XYZ and buy $2500 worth of shares in ABC on the same day they will take $500 from your account on settlement day, or if vice versa will put $500 in your account.

OK thank you for clearing this up.....

Re: CommSec Questions

...and Commsec related question -how do you sell before you've received the SRN? This doesnt come with the contract note from Commsec....but from the share registry. In my case by snail mail...is there another way I should be doing this?? Thanks for the advice.

Commsec queries

this thread is for any queries about commsec that people want to know or get help with. i remember seeing another commsec thread but i cant search it, so i thought il start one.

i am having a few troubles with the commsec website. it been looking abit weird... i purchased some stocks last week, and the settlement date is today, i have received the letter of the purchase. however as i log onto my commsec account, under position statement, under total cost it says 0 but under market value and profit, it shows the value....also under position change its 0%. the profit figure shows... my capital + the profits...usually it should only show the profit you have made.

when i go into view holding, my stock is there, however it still says 0 registered units, and purchase price 0.00. and profit at capital + profit.

i am very worried, as huge profits are at risk. i am confident because i have recieved the confirmation letter, but am just slightly worried....

any ideas?
thanks

Re: Commsec queries

Emily

If your worried give them a call 131519.

Sounds like all is ok but will put your mind at rest, its most likely showing 0 as the trade has been settled.

Cheers

Re: Commsec queries

You will need to update the cost price manually I think, I have same problem.

That will fix other issues

Re: Commsec queries

Am I allowed to either hijack this thread or ask another question about Commsec? Oh well, I am sure Joe will quickly advise if not. I too have a commsec account and it takes on average 5 days for the value of the trade after sale to hit my CBA account. Is this the norm? I am still relatively new at all this and with my first sales, I thought this might be a hic-cup; now I am beginning to think that it is a 'feature'.

Any thoughts?

In your "View Holdings" screen, click on "Edit" at the top and put in the price you paid for your stock manually. This should fix it all up, except for the "Registered Units". This will not show the number of units you own until three working days (T+3) after your purchase. Hope that sorts it all out for you.

Re: CommSec Questions

The payments for trades should take trade date + 3 ASX business days

Last week there was a bank holiday and all my trades were out a day so that may explain it

Re: CommSec Questions

so heres where my thread went...lol
i called them up and, they said it should work after settlement date. its been 2 days past settlement date and its still the same. the commsec guy said its ok though, as long as my shares are through and i get my profits, im happy...haha, he also congrats me on my profits :)
oh and yes i mite add...... they havnt taken any money from my account yet ? hahaha free shares for meeee. :)

u know wat shows in my commsec now?......0 everywhere. and my capital + profit, is a negative/loss. everything else is 0.

also.... i had made a sell order and it got through, this was made a month ago, i recieve my money already....yet..... the full quantity of order is still on waiting to be sold...lol funny commsec.

hey emily it just happened to me too, i just logged in to see how my shares were doin an my heart just dropped!! 0 everywhere!! on the profit/loss column it says -100%!:(
....im sure theres a perfectly good explanation....somewhere out there...
as for the cashin in thing, i bank with commbank and the actual cash shows up a couple of days after settlement but the transaction is actually dated the settlement day... shifty

Re: CommSec Questions

Hi all

This has happened before on the odd occasion (maybe 5 times in last 10 months?). Usually they fix it up during the day, I think once it took til the next day.

I reckon whoever re-set the screens put in zero for last price on everything, rather than yesterday's close.

Mind you, the way things are going, they might be right in a few days!

yes, me too.100% loss. when you done the transaction but you forget to put enough money into your linked account.evenif it is one day delay, you are in big trouble.

Re: CommSec Questions

Seems ComSec are having issues generating margin requirement statements for ETO's.

What a time to go down

Comsec had no today?

Nearly 5 hours after market close I figure I'd better find out what the market's been trying to do to me today.

Comsec is showing no volumes and no prices except bid and offer.

I don't see any comment here about problems during the day, which I guess is the main thing. Still, does anyone know anything about this bout of amnesia?

This happened to me once, where there was a 100% loss on everything. Phoned Comsec and the friendly help desk person said to close the IE, clear the cookies (Control panel, network, internet options, Delete (cookies)) then reload the IE. Worked like a charm - up came all my information.
