Commsec $600 free brokerage offer

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

They have always been good when I have dealt with them...

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

They finally responded after sending a more  email... they said they would fix it and give my mum the free brokerage :D

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

Yea, thats right... and its not actually $600, its just the first 12 trades that are free up to a value of $600... but if you make trades under 10k they're only $20ea so you only get $240 free brokerage

you know what they say

"theres no such thing as a free lunch"

well maybe in this case its just the entree thats free

Its quite misleading... perhaps they should advertise the first 12 trades free, rather than state "$600 free brokerage"

Jono,

Stop worrying about it, when you've make a bucketload trading the markets that $600 will be all but a distant memory.

I would be grateful that you are getting something for nothing.

I have racked up $240 in brokerage in the past month with them.

I have also tried to win their 15k prize trading pack but to no avail. Maybe a con. The people who actually win it are they real?

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

I signed up with commsec specially for the 600 brokerage, how do i know if i got awarded?

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

Wow! I just signed up. $19.95 per trade is not bad either.
You can make some good cash with 12 trades.

$600 Free Brokerage CommSec??

I see they are having a deal:

Will the $600 expire after April 2010 when the deal closes?
I am choosing this or Bell Direct, i thought i could always use the $600 free brokerage, then jump to Bell Direct, true?

Thanks

Dan

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

I signed up over 6 months ago with the $600 free brokerage.. I am still being charged, I thought I had to rack up the 600 before they returned it.. Guess I better give them a call..

Apparently, you can only use 12 trades?

Re: $600 free brokerage from Commsec

I signed up my wifes account with Commsec to get the $600 worth of free trades. On the first one we got charged, then I waited for a rebate which never came so I rang them.

You have to click on the banner that says "$600 free brokerage, click here". If you don't sign up on that banner you won't get it.

In my case I used the banner but it timed out and I couldn't complete the application. A couple of hours later I did it again off the website and not the banner.

When I told the CSO at Commsec the first application timed out they then said ok from now on you will get the free brokerage until the 3 Month period is up. What they couldn't do was refund anything that had already gone through.

Beware and sign up from the banner only, cheers.

Commsec $600 brokerage free..

Hi guys,

I just recently signed up for a commsec acc, I was planning on buying some qan or wbc shares, but when i go to place a buy order it looks like I'm going to be charged $29.90, are there any catches to the free brokerage? and i thought afterwards it was $20?

Not sure about the $600 deal, I thought it expired a while ago.

The $20 brokerage is if you have a Comsec Cash Account and Commsec Direct Investment Account. I believe all new clients are signed up to this package (or at least it is recommended).

Give them a call on 13 15 19. From my experience they are always very helpful and you are not normally on hold for too long.
