Cold fusion power station by Christmas

Blast from the past indeed ! I had forgotten about Andreas Rossi 1 MW cheap as chips power station. I remember seeing so many stories that "seemed" to suggest it was real. And of course reality is a working commercial unit.

I just did a check to see what happened to the Ecat. He is still "developing" and spruiking his invention ! What cajones.

Having said that all the references come from the Limitless energy website. DYOR.

Of course it is for sale.

And for the engineers check out the specs

I have to say after spending 30 minutes examining the wealth of literature on how energy efficient and cost effective the Ecat is ...I'm sold..

Just show me the operation that is using one of these you beaut wonders and I'm in.

(Unfortunately for all the story telling there is not a single example of an operational unit anywhere. I just wonder how this scammer is still operating.)

There are scammer, then there are the professionals.
He's up there with the best.

Indeed Mullokintyre,

if only the $$ Millions spent on renewables, had instead gone to cold fusion research..

Long term, and with due respect to their good intentions.. I believe Basilio and fellow travellers on the 'renewables' caravan .. have been on the wrong side of history.

Humans won't be travelling to the nearest galaxy (Andromeda) powered by solar panels. ..It's a fantasy to think otherwise..

Indeed Logique . Absolutely agree. Humans will only do space travel with some amazing nuclear powered drive.
And likewise humanity will only save our environment with abundant, cheap renewable energy. Those nuclear drives don't come cheap.

And they certainly won't be available in the time frame to drastically reduce the CO2 emissions that are driving global warming.

I'll compare it to the person who's chasing the dream of being an A-list actor, a large cap company CEO or who thinks they'll be the next Taylor Swift.

That's essentially what nuclear fusion amounts to. It's the holy grail, it's the dream outcome that eclipses anything else.

The trouble is how long do you wait? At what age do you give up on the dream if you're not getting anywhere with it and instead just get yourself an ordinary job and get on with life as an adult?

Nuclear fusion has been "just around the corner" for decades and thus far that's been the trouble. Akin to the 40 year old still living with their parents, a point comes where you've got to get on with something, anything, that works.

Bearing in mind that a lot of the renewables stuff doesn't have a huge lifespan, it's a few decades at most, so if fusion does come along and make it redundant then it's no big deal. Just build the fusion as the renewables wear out.

The exceptions being hydro and transmission. Some transmission could become redundant, that's a risk, but it'd be a rare circumstance where someone regretted having built hydro. Even if nuclear fusion does come along, hydro will still be useful for load following and peak demand, it won't go to waste or become redundant.

Same with electrification at the point of use. That's needed regardless of the means of generating the electricity. :2twocents
