I have at very short notice been summoned to undertake a delicate task and due to the emergency am duty bound to answer.

In short beginning on Saturday I will be travelling in the Arnage, and will be for September on the following attached map route, or close to it. It will depend on Border regulations remaining the same between Queensland and the cousins in the Northern Territory.

In Darwin I will be based at Cullen Bay in a mansion. I may have to go fishing with an important identity essential to the task ( I hate fishing ) near Borroloola, so my stay at the Heartbreak Hotel may be extended. Municipalities not on the map where I will pass through or stop are Clermont, Mt. Isa, Camoweal, Larrimah ( The Pink Panther Hotel ), Mataranka, and Katherine.

On the return to the coast I will pass through Cloncurry again and then on to Julia Creek, Richmond, Hughenden, Prairie ( the Prairie Hotel ) and Charters Towers.

Should any ASF members who are domiciled or on similar tasks through this area of heaven wish, I may be available for coffee. Please DM me to meet.

Just an update. Fortunately the task which required my intervention in Darwin has resolved thanks to a timely intervention from the cousins in the NT. Thus we will not visit the Territory. My manservant Švejk and I are resting on a cattle property near Ilfracombe. The price of cattle and weaners has pleased our host Angus. Miners are here there and everywhere. Grey nomads go round in circles wondering where home is. The west is buzzing. We will rest next at Kyuna and then head back to the hotel.

Last night while Angus and I were having “a few” at the Wellshot Hotel my manservant heard some gossip from the kitchen about a possible festering canker in Alpha. Thus we will backtrack in the Arnage tomorrow to Alpha and then to home.

You know in a funny way I am reminded of a story my Father told.

It was about two Europeans who agreed to meet up 20 years after the War at a predetermined time and place to compare what life had dealt them to date. After the formalities it was down to what cars they drove to get there.

The first one said He drove a Rrolls Rroyce and He Rrrrrolled, He Rrrrolled, He Rrrrrolled all de vay.

The second one said I have an old Vauxall and I Vauxd, I Vauxd, I Vauxd all de vay.

I am sure you are better than Rrrrolling in the Arnage and forbid the unlikely event if anything going wrong.... there would always be consolation in the drinks cabinet.

My regards to Švejk

Švejk finally remembered the stock. It is Greenvale, GRV an oil shaler which has discovered bitumen I believe under the oil shale at Alpha. So there is bitumen over the oil shale and bitumen under. Useful to know.
