i am going to start collecting signatures for the start of a political party to re-introduce capital punishment
A MAN charged with the murder of his daughter, whom he allegedly threw off Melbourne's West Gate Bridge, did not appear in court today because he was deemed suicidal.
I'll donate some rope.
Let's see what our softcock legal system does with him probably early parole
There is a common theme in this thread that this guy will not get what he deserves. I agree with this feeling. This theme is also apparent in many other stories such as random bashings, rape and other heinous crimes. What i don't understand is why it is so often the case that people get off lightly with these crimes. Is this the case or am i perceiving what actually happens in the law courts incorrectly? I don't want people to respond by saying that the legal system is too soft - i know that. What i don't understand is why the legal system is too soft.
We are in the age of "understanding' as usual taken to extremes.
Also see this, I hope this case doesnt end up in this thread -

It is wrong.
But you didn't answer my question. I know we are in the age of 'understanding'. My question is why are we? Why do we live in a society that is scared of punishing someone as they should be punished. Or to put it another way why do we live in a society that continually punishes people with less severe suffering than they have imparted on some other innocent member of society?
This confirms that people in Melbourne are not normal.
Shouldnt you need an IQ test before joining this site ?
What purpose does a piece of rubbish like that serve in society.
Now we have to pay for his rehab--what utter and complete crapp.
Not only does the Criminal courts need to be tougher---he should not be given the privilage of breathing air.
But the Family law courts need to be pulled into line.
Its ALWAYS about MONEY and never about the child/ren---endless pathetic negotiation.
The partner with the best legal representation gets the best deal $$$ wise and the poor kids get short shrifted everytime.
I was a weekend father.
Never saw a law court.
Have a tremendous relationship with both my kids---now adults and my EX.
This is worth far more than any money could buy!
Cant describe how disgusted I am.
Life does however have its way of evening up the adgenda.
Poor little kid. 4 yrs old---mongrel.
I spent last year in the Family Court. It cost me $100,000+. It had nothing to do with money. It had everything to do with the right to have a close and loving relationship with my children which the mother attempted to deny me. I would have spent double that, triple, whatever. For me, money becomes worthless when faced with losing your children.
I am very angry with my ex for making me go through that last year. It was a long and emotional road. But the wonderful and now growing relationship I have the children made it all worthwhile.
I just can't fathom how anyone could do this to their kids. It makes me shudder.
Why would a mother try to deny access to the father ?
Why would the courts waste everones time and money allowing her to persue that if there were no compelling reason why the father should be denied access.
No doubt you paid her bill too, her Lawyer probably urged her on, they do that, it's good for business.
