Child thrown from Melbourne bridge

I also think there will be great pressure on the judiciary to actually sentence this creature appropriately.

Actually did anyone see the story in todays paper about the family in the U.S.?
Talk about depression or what

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,24973840-5012762,00.html

The man who threw the child is scum, if things are that bad, throw yourself off or if its about the wife - at least try and throw her off, but leave the children out of it.

This US incident is sad as well. We talk about recessions etc and when your fully employed with very little relative worries, its easy to forget about the effects on children during these times whilst their parents implode.

I doubt he'll get much sympathy, but agree he'll probably plead mentally unstable or some @#@#$@#$.

Sorry mate, I wouldn't agree as disgusting as this is. It won't help. But I'm sure you'd get your 100 sigs no worries.

I did see something though that the Federal Government was trying to implement policy to take the possibility of the states implementing capital punishment.. so it must be a state thing? and soon a Fed thing I guess.

Edit: feel free to castrate and maybe blind him.

A MAN charged with the murder of his daughter, whom he allegedly threw off Melbourne's West Gate Bridge, did not appear in court today because he was deemed suicidal.

I'll donate some rope.

Let's see what our softcock legal system does with him probably early parole

There is a common theme in this thread that this guy will not get what he deserves. I agree with this feeling. This theme is also apparent in many other stories such as random bashings, rape and other heinous crimes. What i don't understand is why it is so often the case that people get off lightly with these crimes. Is this the case or am i perceiving what actually happens in the law courts incorrectly? I don't want people to respond by saying that the legal system is too soft - i know that. What i don't understand is why the legal system is too soft.

We are in the age of "understanding' as usual taken to extremes.

Also see this, I hope this case doesnt end up in this thread -

It is wrong.

But you didn't answer my question. I know we are in the age of 'understanding'. My question is why are we? Why do we live in a society that is scared of punishing someone as they should be punished. Or to put it another way why do we live in a society that continually punishes people with less severe suffering than they have imparted on some other innocent member of society?

The Law now is obsessed with the rights of the crim not the victim.

I don't know why it's probably a reaction to the obsession with human rights only it's gone too far.

I am on another forum and before the names were released a participant was concerned that it was one of the children she cares for in a Child Care Setting. About an hour later the name of the child was released, and it was the child she knew. I dont know why she was concerned for this child.

I cannot imagine what her siblings are feeling right now, being in the car when this person did what he did. And her mother. The guilt, the sorrow, the anger. The loss.

I cannot think of anything more evil in my life. The note suggests premeditation, so hopefully the murder charge can be upheld. But also maybe this act will no render him unfit to plead.

So many people affected by this act, the witnesses who saw the child falling. An image that will remain forever.

RIP Baby Darcey.

Reading a report in The Age this morning witnesses said the girl seemed limp, perhaps unconcious or asleep.

The father is a complete basket case and it will be interesting to find more about WHY.

Even if someone snaps, and that can happen, you wouldnt do this to anyone especially your own child so WHY ?

There's no doubt he will play , through his lawyers, the "I was not responsible through mental breakdown" excuse so perhaps we'll never know.

Just realised he's fine when it comes to covering his face from the media, but cant seem to get it together enough not to throw a child to her death.

Any reason why he chose this Girl out of the 3 Kids...maybe he found out she was not his daughter????

I spent last year in the Family Court. It cost me $100,000+. It had nothing to do with money. It had everything to do with the right to have a close and loving relationship with my children which the mother attempted to deny me. I would have spent double that, triple, whatever. For me, money becomes worthless when faced with losing your children.

I am very angry with my ex for making me go through that last year. It was a long and emotional road. But the wonderful and now growing relationship I have with the children made it all worthwhile.

I just can't fathom how anyone could do this to their kids. It makes me shudder.

Why would a mother try to deny access to the father ?

Why would the courts waste everones time and money allowing her to persue that if there were no compelling reason why the father should be denied access.

No doubt you paid her bill too, her Lawyer probably urged her on, they do that, it's good for business.

Some mothers deny access out of spite for a failed relationship. Some deny access because they think the children can't possibly survive without them. Some deny access because they can't stand the thought of spending even one night alone or without them.

With my ex it was a combination of the above.

There was never any reason why I should not have time with the kids and was awarded overnight time as soon as I got in front of a judge. But it costs, and that is where the system sucks. Why should I have to prove to a judge that I am a worthy father? The mother will make up many lies and rearrange facts at will to contest the thing. Egged on by lawyers, as you say.

This blokes crime is dispicable. But it will be of interest to me as to what has occurred at the Family Court.
