I made a rare foray into charting the other day and looked at the Chaikin Money Flow on a large number of holdings. It really looks to be a useful measure for accumulation or lack of, probably over a month chart period.....I may even consider it in timing future buys/sells.

Does anyone out there use this measure and what applications do you find it most useful for?

Like EVERY indicator looks like the holy grail in hindsite and when applied realtime as frustrating as hell as you cant workout why it doesnt look like the past hsitory charts you looked at.

So then it's not just me then...hehe....I guess with this stuff I like to keep the indicators as simple as possible and not use as a 'holy grail' but one aspect of the decision making process....

I think we all agree a price chart is helpful.......we all probably agree volume stats are helpful....Chaikin just seems to provide a quick reference which balances these

TRIN (Arms Index) will also look at both price and volume.

Can be useful for intraday futures trading IMO.

How? When a futures market is 1 instrument and TRIN is,

(adv stocks/decl stock)/(Volume adv stocks/Volume decl stocks)

Are you talking about the underling index constituents?
