CFDs or IB with Margin?

Point taken re. shorting with IB.

My main strategies are long only. Though MFG would be my option for shorting.

I have heard rumours re. IB introducing Aussie CFDs

They won't say. "Woring on it" is the best I've got out of them. No indication on time frame at all.

They've got ASX CFDs now, but who the hell wants those?

I'll put +1 to MFG for shorts. Not great, but they do the job. Barely. Still much better than IGM. *shudder*

I'm using IB for long-termer longs (long term, for me, meaning more than a month or so). MFG for shorts, and two-weeker longs on those times when there are too many good signals for IB's 50% margin to cut it.

...yeah, I'm calling for a stop with MFG and simply not trading if I won't be in a position to get the trigger message and call in. It'll do for now...

Edit: sorry, to explain the line above: You can't have a stop attached to a conditional with MFG's WebIRESS. So the order will be filled with no stop to cover it until you can either log in or call to add it. Bloody annoying. Playing without stops: hell no.

They're supposed to add the functionality to include the stop from the get-go "any day" now. /shrug
