according to the lady at Coles, gift cards are a favoured prize of scammers, maybe kidnappers will also want a bunch of gift cards@Garpal Gumnut Now just surmising. If the king of the cashless world was to be nabbed and held for ransom, would a credit card payment be acceptable ????
And the advantages of gaining FF points for the payment!!!@Garpal Gumnut Now just surmising. If the king of the cashless world was to be nabbed and held for ransom, would a credit card payment be acceptable ????
Not even a dollar in an envelope under the tree.
Yeah, 3% in it for the likes of VC.And the advantages of gaining FF points for the payment!!!
Whatever will the tooth fairy do?Not even a dollar in an envelope under the tree.
@wayneL recipients will have to keep checking their bank balances to see if a cashless transaction has taken place for that missing fang.Whatever will the tooth fairy do?
Tips? I thought this was an Australian forum.Another point I will note about cash is that when you go to a restaurant or cafe, etc when you leave tips in cash there is a 99% chance the tips will actually go to the staff, but in many small businesses when people add a tip via card payment often the tip gets taken by the business owner and never distributed to staff. I always make it a point to make sure that any place I visit if I leave a tip I leave it in cash.
Then that is easy money for the bowling alley.I organised a Christmas party at a Bowling Alley, it included laser skirmish (1st time for me, great fun) and bowling of course, but also a tab for food and drinks, and everyone got a card with credit to use on all the amusement machines.
Someone brought to my attention that their card had $2.40 left but the minimum spend is $2.50, the option to add credit to the card had a minimum amount of $20, they could not add 10c. The staff could not do anything to help.
What was once a cash & token system is now a digital card system.
I wonder how many cards have credit left that at can not be accessed, each day and all year.
Yes, "bribes" is our go to in this country.Tips? I thought this was an Australian forum.
Spot on moXJO, but that is the price the Govt has to pay, to have a quasi Govt banking system, the 4 pillars.Nope it's not a regular business. Your examples were dogsht and you are now having a hissy fit.
The government would move quickly to shore up banks due to the societal effects if they fell over. They are protected to a greater degree than any other business and that "special tax" they pay is because of that. If anything it only proves it more.
If big four refuses to service the suburbs properly then open it up to those that will. The next generation won't be as forgiving to banks that stiff communities.Spot on moXJO, but that is the price the Govt has to pay, to have a quasi Govt banking system, the 4 pillars.
It allows the Govt to have a lot of control over what the banks do, without being responsible for it.
@JohnDe Now that the Senator has caught them out what will be happening next.50+% profit, that’s crazy. No wonder our banks want to go cashless.
Do you really think the next generation will be doing things in person at branches? If big four refuses to service the suburbs properly then open it up to those that will. The next generation won't be as forgiving to banks that stiff communities.
