Ever since I can remember there has never been a shortage of funds in which to donate for Cancer research.

A disease 35 yrs ago you rarely heard mentioned.One in 5 maybe effected by Cancer.

In that time world wide well over the GNP of a small country has been invested in research.Billions if not Trillions.

Today still the research and the Billions yet now its 1:2 will be effected.

Dont get it.
Whats really being achieved.

Sounds really like a case of "Should be treating the cause not the cure"
After 50 odd years and trillions of $$s in research---

God help us if a meteor targets the planet we live on.

Scam is a word that comes to mind.
Hoodwinked another.
Money train another.
Self serving another ---(Drug companies)

While the conspiracy theories have been about for years---its hard to deny the facts.---Its not being prevented---simply MANAGED.

I think you will find that its more like 75% of people die from some form of cancer.

Speaking of cancer, I am about to get my first skin cancer check-up. I will be amazed if I don't have any...considering I was a child of the 70's when there was no slip, slop, slap. I spent every weekend down at the beach with my family, getting fried like a crisp.

Then the 80's came on...slip, slop, slap...but my father said only girls use sunscreen. So I was told to be a man and not use it! Yep 20 years later and he was getting skin cancer cut out of his body every 6 months. Silly fool I say!

Yep Basal Cell Carcenoma---I run a breeding programme.

Fortunately no Melanoma's-- a check is well worth it.

Squamous cell carcinoma is just behind melanoma in the nasty stakes. SCC's have a greater ability to metastasize then BCC's. If SCC's become invasive: get thee to a morgue.

The biggest issue is not the question of seeing changes of face, arms or areas which you can readily examine. It is where you cannot see, such as your back, is the danger. Get in the habit of asking your partner to examine every three months or so any moles, warts or abnormalities which you are unable to personally examine. If no partner get a standing appointment with your GP. You do not need to go to a "skin cancer clinic." Every GP has the training to identify these - but let us not drift off to GP training standards.

If there is the slightest hint of a melanoma or SCC get it tended too ASAP. Be careful a melanoma or even an SCC does not have to be deep in order to be terminal. You may have a 40-85% survival chance if a melanoma is no more than 2mm deep. Scary stuff.

I wonder if any research has been done on the lifestyles of people who get cancer, i.e. are vegetarians/vegans any less likely to be susceptible than those who live out of McDonalds?

Do those who exercise regularly, eat well, don't smoke etc, fare any better than those who can't be bothered looking after themselves?

I've never seen any statistics about this.

Do you believe you are less likely to fall victim to cancer if you follow a healthy lifestyle?

I believe that a small amount of exposure to the sun each day (preferably in the early morning) is a preventative. I also believe that organ weakness - especially liver weakness - makes you more vulnerable. So a balanced diet with plenty of green leafy vegies is important. Stress can create blockages in energy flow in the body which in turn can lead to decreased vitality - so minimising stress is also important.
I can personally recommend an alternative product - 'Curaderm' for treatment (and cure)
of certain types of skin cancer. The company is now based in Vanuatu but research was originally carried out in Oz. Solbec are now researching similar compounds.
