Just to confirm, in order to calculate my commissions paid if short selling I would find the percentage of the spread(bid divided by offer or buy/sell in cfd terms) then find out how much this percentage increase amounts to in dollars over my position size?

Re: calcuting CMC markets/CFD commissions

Another question. I wanted to know why interest payments are involved in CFDs at all?

If they are not using their money to hedge against me then why do they need to charge me interest? and why do they need to pay me some lousy rate when I'm shorting?

Unfortunately there is only one Robin Hood. The rest of the world behaves the opposite.

Another thought of course is if the prices are made up why do we have to pay for ASX data for the Australian shares? do they on forward this money on to the ASX or do they keep it themselves? either way someone is stealing our money because we are not getting ASX Data.

yep, doesn't make sense at all IMO. I asked them the same question and they said "ASX requires it if you wish to trade", couldn't get any further answers. I don't subscribe to the feed.

The answer I recieved about paying ASX fee's from CMC markets is, that is what the ASX charges them for each client using ASX intruments. You don't pay for any other exchanges, porkpie
