Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) Stocks - which one and why?

Good question, BNPL and loyalty are 2 entirely different animals. Wesfarmers updated their "One pass" loyalty program in 2022, HVN has their own program with Qantas and their credit provider, Latitude and every other major retailer have their own program. It will be interesting to see how the BNPL companies cope with the changes to the Credit Act.

grab an extra customer base , and have the basics for an in-house credit system and possibly even intertwine a loyalty points system

not exactly customer lock-in but would certainly veer customers to shop there more often , and every chance a wise selection of target would add extra skilled IT staff at cents in the dollar

WES can offer pharmacy stores , work-wear , hardware lines , even apparently some minor laser treatments

while HVN can offer international reach ( albeit not universal )

Walmart did a similar thing back in the 90’s.

They introduced Walmart card that allowed a family to buy a weeks worth of groceries on credit.

The catch was they had to pay for it the next week, which meant the family had no money to buy Groceries for that week once they paid for the previous week, but good load up the card again.

So it locked families into shopping at Walmart, because they couldn’t move to the competitor.

from Bloomberg:
Klarna working on IPO as soon as Q3, seeking US$20bn valuation.

Didn't CBA have a tie up with this outfit, during BNPL mania, putting in equity?
