Bullcharts

just the initial stop ..not using it for position sizing.....but tradesim doesnt use that as a initial stop....im just new to tradesim so just trying things out.

Gday,
Does anyone know of anywhere or anyone who sells systematic trading systems for Bullcharts / Tradesim ?

Im interested in mid to longer term EOD systems .

Ive had the software for a while but cant write systems ... There are plenty of websites that sell systems for metastock , but cant find any for bullcharts..

Prepared to pay for systems that i can backtest using my software .. couple of hundred or couple of thousand bucks , it seems bullcharts is maybe to new or not enough using it .

thankyou....

Bullcharts is pretty much an Australian platform therefore not many developing systems for it. You’d be best posting on their forum. Designing your own system is easier with Bullcharts than most platforms as you don’t necessarily have to code, there are drop down boxes you fill out with your conditions, this IMO makes it the best platform for beginners or people who don’t have the time to code. I don’t use Bullcharts much anymore as it’s an EOD platform. There are active user groups around Australia, not sure if you have one in WA though. You could probably join the Melbourne or Sydney group and ask the members.

It only took me a couple of months of playing around until I started getting some good backtesting results, give it a go. Paying for systems is a strange idea to me, think about it, can you put a price on a faultless system that always makes you money? if such a thing was true you could auction it for 100s of millions.

This software is $795 + $352 EOD data. Pricey! I like the look of its inbuilt scans though. Has anybody bought it recently?

Not recently....year ago i did....but i reckon there would be plenty out there ...great program.
Data is normal price for fully adjusted and rebuilding all lists etc daily..which is required for backtesting

Hi Nero, I also purchased BC about 12 month ago and wouldn't hesitate recommending it.

As for data you can use BC data or any metastock data can be used with BC, I personally use paritech data with 5 intraday up dates for around $400 bucks a year which is about the average price for clean data.

Is anyone still running 'techtrader' system in bullcharts and tradesim? i have been running it in tradesim using different stops and position sizing models ..just playing around with it.. while this volatile market is still with us.

The scans are still picking some prospects.

Ive tried a few variations with the exit and stop formulas but the original system seems to perform equally as well ..ATR stops seem to work ok to ..performance not as good this year .

Re: The Wyckoff Method

Hi.
Has anybody developed the correct code for Volume Wave similar to attached image?
In Metastock or BullScript.

Bump.

Anyone want to have a go at joea's question above (post #29)?

Well that was over a year ago...i ended up trading a simple system i made using the bullcharts as u can do with it.. but never seem to have confidence using real $$ with a system i made myself .. and not being able to write code makes it not easy..So ive ditched Bullcharts.

Purchased Amibroker after i found that some good systems can be purchased for it turnkey...no need to be able to code...and can backtest properly with Monte carlo etc....

Noticed that Bullcharts is not as popular as AB as well....Should have bought AB straight up but i guess that is part of the apprenticeship of trading...takes time to work things out...

cheer...

I just came back to Australia recently and called up bull-charts to reactivate my long not used software and as many years ago they were very helpful and nice. It must be one of the best charting software available in Australia as far as I am concerned.. and the Aussie customer service is awesome. I am surprised threads are fro so long ago on this forum... am I missing something?

I'm presenting at the next online webinair of the Bullcharts user group. 23rd August 2022, 8pm Sydney time (45min + Q+A)

I'm going to rebuild my charts from the ground up explaining what I'm looking for in the charts. I'll then show the scans that look for the first blue bar, HVBBs and Darvas boxes that I use for trading setups.

The presentation is to provide BC users with something different and to foster the BC community which is very quiet (secret).

If anyone wants to log in, you'll have to register through Eventbrite. Please PM me for the link if interested.

If you've read my threads then you'll already be aware of how I use my charts. My discretionary approach is fully disclosed. There's no secret sauce.

Know of Bullcharts but am not up with it as software.

@peter2 do you use it as stand-alone or in conjunction with say Amibroker or something else?

What are the features you think are highlights?

I use it as my main charting software. It's main feature for me is the ability to create (code) any indicator I want and then be able to scan the market for signals based on any indicator. Each afternoon I scan for the 1st blue bars and HVBBs and evaluate the opportunities before the close. I prefer to buy before the close when I can, without chasing the price higher.

I also use the Darvas box indicator and the software finds these trading ranges that I use for break-out trading opportunities.

@peter2 These scans are they yours which you code using which language?
OR
Are they already pre-set in the software from a library?

Bullcharts provides a stack of indicators and scans. Their coding language is a proprietary language BullScript. it's very easy to learn and I modify existing scans to suit my repurposing. Users, much more capable than me have created some amazing indicators and scans. As we know, complexity doesn't earn more profit.

Please count me in
I am fully aware it's all about Courage

How do I set up a PM with you?

Hi @peter2,

Did you by any chance purchase TradeSim as well?

Cheers, Rob

@Captain_Chaza I've started a conversation with you and you should see an alert at the top of the forum menu (when logged in).

@rnr No I didn't buy TradeSim as well. I was unaware of their connection until years later and I'd already decided to not go down the back-testing rabbit-hole.

However, if Real Test could access their database that would tempt me into looking at it. I won't pay ASX for two databases.
