Anyone been or going to the up and coming Big Day Outs?

Any thoughts on how it was or what you liked etc...

cheers

Will be going to the Adelaide one for the 5th straight year

Love it, although the line up this year is fairly average. But still always an awesome day.

kids went yesterday - loved it - no accounting for gen Y taste
Rage Against the Machine - (F... you I wont etc)
Regurgitate (?) ( Polyester Girl )(??) (I'm simply typing what I'm told here lol)

Actually going to the Melbourne show

Hopefully a good day not to hot

Rage will be insane

A great show, the Australian original and the best...

It's a long day though...

Have loads of fun, and easy does it with the rest...

The 'kids' are looking forward to Rage, and I hear Bjork has pulled out. At least this year it isnt going to be stinking hot - one year it was 43!

Not happy that I'm not going. Only wanted to see Rage but missed out on tickets to their shows like most and ended up not going to BDO either.

And I can hear The Living End playing live right now. I'm about 6.5km from Hobart CBD and can hear it loud and clear although the beat is dominating the rest at that distance. Damn... another music festival I should have gone to in hindsight.

Not to worry, I'll go to a BDO next year if there's anyone worthwhile on.

Is there any consensus as to which city is the better option - it's a plane trip either way for me so just as easy to go to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide and about the same cost too. I could be wrong here, but I'm thinking the whole thing probably goes off more in Adelaide and Brisbane than in Melbourne? Could be wrong but that's been my general experience with concerts in those cities.

I'm a bit long in the tooth for a bopper concert as well, probably fall asleep half way through .

I'm down in Denmark ATM were John Butler is playing tonight, the missus is still there having a fat old time....lol. I'm back at the chalet making sure the kids are asleep ready for the Surf Club carnival tomoz, whilst doing bog laps outside freezing my but off with the 'bub from hell' who has 30 min power naps.

Ah the joys of parenthood..........wouldn't have it any other way though!

Will ask some of the touring crew (late next week on Th / Fr) who have been with the show at least 6 or 7 years, but it's very compartmentalised with people "sticking" to specific areas like the "boiler room, main stage (blue and orange), lilyworld, essential and others...
Might even PM you my findings Smurf1976...

I think may be it is easier to get tickets in Adelaide. Son said last night that he thought BDO in Adelaide was eventually a sell out - but if so, it took a number of weeks to do that. People seem to wait until the acts are finalised, then do Christmas/New Years and then buy tickets.

i have tickets for this year's BDO..Never been to one before. Have been to plenty of other festivals....Should be interesting

Adelaide generally does take a while to sell out. So it is easier to get tickets for. In fact this year was the first time it sold out before christmas.

I havnt been to any of the other BDO's but i enjoy the size of the Adel one. I think the capacity is around 30 000 so its not too full on.

Am going this year but no standout/must see acts for me

So it is a sell out. First time ever. Wonder how much I could get for the kids tickets on ebay

They would kill me though!

P,

This is the 3rd year in a row it is a sell out.

2006 it sold out about 1 week before the date. 2007 it was 1st week in Jan. 2008 it was mid December

Thanks in advance. It's just as easy for me to get to any of them except WA so I might as well pick the best one.

Well, you learn something every day. How can you sell out Wayville showgrounds though?

I usually get the tickets early in November as a Christmas present. Oldest son has been going for maybe 8 years now, (22) and the second time for the youngest (18). Just glad it isnt a heat wave given post Christmas weather.

Prospector, it's because of licensing issues and such with public events... Evacuation ability, number of toilets and other amenities. Wayville showgrounds are old and the facilities are not so good, hence the re-building there on Goody rd at present.
I did think the same a few years back though...

Scuba
