BHP/RIO in post trading auction?

Hey all

It seems to me that BHP and RIO are still in their post trading auction state. So far as I have seen this auction is settled for all stocks at around 4.11pm every day but according to my brokers platform both BHP and RIO are still in the auction states I write this at 10pm, showing an indicative price.

Even if you do a price lookup on the asx.com.au site itself for these two you see that that the bidding and selling prices are widely apart, so it not just my brokers platform that seems to be frozen.

Can anyone enlighten me?

BHP & RIO went into trading halt just before the market closed, hence the preopen pricing, check out the announcments on the ASX site. :)

thanks

that did occur to me and i looked for a trading halt announcement, but saw none, even now i quickly went into the asx site and checked bhps anns and as i see there have only been 5 relesed this month, and only 3 on before 15 Oct - ie yesterday,

as i see this morning RIo is trading but BHP still is not - 10.18am

i am looking here

is there somewhere else i should be looking?

BHP is making a bid for United Minerals, Business Channel says it is worth 200million. Not sure how long it will be on hold for.

thanks guys

i saw that UMC ann, but i still see no 'trading halt' ann for BHP,

shouldnt there be the standard 1 page or 1-2 paragraph ann by bhp requesting the asx to put its shares into halt until a certain date or until a certain ann is released to market? i have seen this kind of halt many times and its always been been announced,

ok thanks to all

bye
