Hi guys,

i am currently subscribed to morningstar.com but the recomendations over the past 18 months have been pretty poor and i'm not happy with it.

currently looking for alternatives? can anyone recomend me some to look into?

i am currently leaning towards Stock Soctor (lincoln indicators), has anyone here used it before or currently using it? if so are you happy with it?

The guys at StockDoctor don't really make recommendations, they just create a list based on a set of parameters that they apply to each area of annual reports/announcements etc. that produce a list of stocks most likely to succeed and least likely to fail.

Years ago they tried to tell everyone that OneTel was a basket case but no one would listen, the end result said it all.

Just as an example, one of their Star Stocks is ARP, they seem to ride out the market lows better than most.

It is market investment software as opposed to trading software IMO.

My SMSF has subscribed to to StockDoctor for five years now.

thanks for your response Boggo, although from my understanding Stock Doctor provides you with a valuation of the stock which is the 12 month price target? and shows weather they think a stock is undervalued or overvalued which helps is basically a buy recomendation if they think its undervalued doesnt it?

also how often do the stock doctor analysts review the stocks? morningstar analysts dont seem to review some stocks very often at all which is really annoying as the information isnt up to date when i decide to buy?

does that mean you strongly recomend stock doctor? are there any other similr softwere i should look at?

yes they do and yes

depends which stocks, their star stocks are constantly monitored and you receive two emails per day covering any changes or effect of news

I haven't seen anything with a similiar detailed approach.

PS I still apply technical analysis stops to every stock regardless of fundamentals.

great! thank you so much for answering my questions Boggo... i do use TA as well, but i only use it as a final confirmation for buying a stock, 80-90% of my decision of entering a stock is based on the fundamentals and i like to buy and hold...

i think a lot of people seem to prefer TA over FA as they dont like seing the fluctuations of a stock over the long term whilst still holding it.

I use ValueGain. It gives me fundementals of both the ASX and US markets. I also get charts of the Australian, US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Canada and New Zeland stock exchange.

I update the custom folders from the Standard & Poor website. Support helped me with that.

I can't comment on stock doctor. Those two programs were desplayed at the 2007 Melbourne trading expo and I decided on HUBB value gain. Site is www.valuegain.com

I'm happy with the software. I'm not happy with the market. Oh well, 2009 was okay.

I used Sherpa in the past. Not sure if it still around. If it is it'd be worth a look but I don't know how it compares to other offerings now.

hi guys, thanks heaps for all the prompt responses...

will be checking out both softweres over the next couple of weeks and decide then.

till than... hopefully the market does some good to my stocks hehe.
