Does anyone know any software which allows backtesting of the whole market? I have looked around but haven't found any, was contemplating creating a web-based app but if there is something available that would be great.

Google search for "portfolio level backtesting".

Amibroker is the best software for this.

Apologies, I mean't backtest all stock on the ASX. EG Buy condition, Close condition & Limit condition, then it would simulate starting from x date to y date.
