Ouch!

I don't think it's too late for more shorts but there's an increasing probability that BA will go into Chapter 11 (bankruptcy protection).

The cruising companies are in the same boat. ;)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said the government would provide financial assistance to Boeing Co <BA.N> as the entire aviation sector faces economic turmoil over the coronavirus pandemic.

"Boeing got hit hard in many different ways," Trump said at a press conference and confirmed he was also considering providing assistance to airplane suppliers. "We have to protect Boeing... We'll be helping Boeing." Boeing said Monday it was in talks with senior U.S. officials about short-term assistance for itself and the entire aviation sector. Boeing has been struggling to win approval from regulators for its 737 MAX to return to service after two fatal crashes in five months.

I'm 99% sure nothing would happen to Boeing. Unfortunately it doesn't means the investors are safe. Government can assist Boeing but not its investors. They can bankrupt it and transfer all the real assets into new company, leaving stock holders with nothing. GE as an example.

Great news today !

The FAA has finally lifted its 737 MAX ban ! Won't be long before other jurisdictions follow suit.

They have to get their act together. Killing the astronauts would be disastrous. Hope those guys are getting overtime. Meant to be up for 8 days. Looking like who knows? A year and a half?

Yes saw that too, they must not sleep that well, and when the US will ask Russia to get them out, you have to hope Trump will be in power, as otherwise, a refusal would be expected

No, it will be Musk-Spacex that gets them out if they can't get it right.
Boeing would hate that though.

Boeing's got some serious competition from SpaceX now. If they can't get their act together, Musk's team might just be the ones to rescue those astronauts. Would be a major blow to Boeing's ego, but hey, at least the astronauts would be safe.

SpaceX will now officially rescue the astronauts.
.. After months of turmoil over its safety, Boeing's new astronaut capsule departed the International Space Station on Friday (US time) without its crew and headed back to Earth.

NASA's two test pilots stayed behind at the space station — their home until next year — as the Starliner capsule undocked 420km over China, springs gently pushing it away from the orbiting laboratory.

The return flight was expected to take six hours, with a nighttime touchdown in the New Mexico desert.

Funny how 20y ago, they would have been given a ride home on a Soyouz but in 2024, the US prefer betting on an untested transfer to Elon's rocket.
I hope they will make it but would recommend life insurance ....
And yes better odds on SpaceX

It landed OK.
So they probably would have made it.

True, landed but how? Fast? pressurised?
The idds might not have been great for them to prefer unknown ...
Boeing or Nasa or Ariane can not compete with Elon, or China
Completely different way of managing companies projects, completely different type of employees..
I had an interview for a Boeing defence job in Australia 15y ago, and when i left the room, i knew i did not want to join...20y behind, and previous experience in that field was with French company which was not especially avant garde.....
Companies do morph, and they are big enough to.. IBM did partly, Sun as well..
But i would bet the existing heavy corporate structures still remain.
Probably better if flying a Boeing 737 as a passenger..😊

I took a tour of the boeing factory recently when I was in Seattle.
The security has intense.
No photographs, indeed no electronic devices of any kind were allowed on the tour.
Interesting, but then most of the hard work is actually done by Spirit Aerospace in Witchita Kansas where they build the fuselages.
Its all time high was in February 2019 at $435.
Been down hill since then.
The quarterly EPS shows losses for the past 19 quarters, which might explain the underling SP weakness.
Another once great company slowly dying and losing its innovative leadership.

Boeing is another once great company gutted by decades of fraud and parasitic management. Capitalism is slowly dying. Company executives need to start going to prison.
