AVM - Anvil Minding.

I have just finished watching the four corners report on anvil minings operation in the democratic republic of the congo.

I have to say that the directory of that company had some valid points, but he also lacked vital emotion in the situation, and has a massive disregard for human life. I was just wondering what other people opinions on the situation is if you watched the report or not?

According to four corners, the situation was this:

E N I watched that too. Very interesting story.

Did not understand how they got the mine up and going other than the connection to the Presidents right hand man. Not a bad bit of profit for Anvil!

I am sure this is similar to a lot of stories that could be told about the exploitation of African countries/people (and other 3rd world countries) by opportunists. Will happen again too.

Money and greed - who cares about a few people dying?

For a great story (novel) that has been told about the old Belgian Congo, take a read of Barbara Kingsolver's "The Poisonwood Bible".

more news from Anvil

HOT on the heels of a huge boost to its Kinsevere copper project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Anvil Mining has moved to acquire an additional 15% interest in the massive project, taking its mining rights to 95%. The company has entered into an agreement to acquire the additional interest from private Congolese company Mining Company Katanga – Anvil's partner in the project – in the mining rights for the Kinsevere-Nambulwa copper-cobalt deposits.

The additional interest follows news of a 450% boost to Kinsevere's mineral resource to 1.6 million tonnes of contained copper, representing nearly $9 billion of in-ground copper at current prices.

Can someone please tell me why AVM traded up around 10% in Canada and closed at a price of 15.83 CAD = 18.2607 AUD and the current AVM price in Australia is 17.00?

Seems a bit unloved over here. I think this is a good one that has been sold off heavily, granted there is pending news about the situation in Congo but it seems to be business as usual, we also have had BHP copper mine production been stopped due to earthquake.

Ok so now AVM has suddenly traded up, dropped to 16.98 at one point and now bids are on at 17.82, it seems ppl suddenly realised the value in this stock.
