Violence against a man is often times not taken as seriously as violence against a woman

it is much more difficult for a man to get custody of his children than a woman

Higher incarceration rates and longer sentencing for men than women who commit the same crime.

Lack of legal ramifications for paternity fraud

Boys education is hitting the rocks

I don't really want to go om a man rant as I am pro women doing well. But being a father of two boys, I want the best for them as well
 

And I would agree with every point you list there as being issues that are in need of addressing. Both sexes have legitimate issues that should be genuinely dealt with.

But I still don't see how any of those issues are a threat to being a real man in this country, or as part of a vilification of men in a new effete paradigm.

I wouldn't disagree with anything you've listed. As a mother of two boys, I also want the best for them. There is work to be done on inequalities towards both sexes it would seem.
 


moXJO, I agree with you and that's coming from a female perspective...

If Abbott had said the same things to Gillard that she said in her infamous misogynist speech, we would have never heard the end of it with full criticisms of his nastiness. GG is right - there is gender bias and it seems feminism is to be more aggressive and superior than a male rather than simply achieve equality as I understand was the original intention.

My son had to go through the courts to get fair time with his kids after a marriage break down and it seems that gender bias in favour of the female is alive and well.

He did OK, albeit it around $40k in legal costs which seems ludicrous when a good dad just wants to give his kids the basic right of having their dad in their lives. This gender bias is a worry for our sons - I agree entirely.

I can understand why the male suicide rate is so high.

This woman thing has gone too far. Women already have too many opinions. I guess it is their right but the time for reminding ourselves that women are now allowed to do this and that is long gone. Yes, I know women have opinions as I am constantly reminded by every single source of communication that women this, women that ......

I care about women in so far as they're the erotic naked kind, beyond that I just don't want to hear about it anymore.

That being said, Tony Abbott is not a real man. He is a soft handed, blue blooded posh private school boy inner city elitist scum bag who has never done a hard days work in his life and would in fact shatter the lively hood of many of these stereotypical "real men".

Gillard has also been the victim of terrible sexism and abuse and this country should be ashamed. That has nothing to do with her being a woman and a lot to do with the attitude of others towards women, which unfortunately yes, old men in positions of power with lots and lots of money do tend to be a tad sexist.

Somene who understands the different roles of men and women.

Somene who appreciates women for the differences they present to us.

Someone who is prepared to protect women with their own lives.

That'll do for now..........

I don't know I thought it was a term women used on dating sites to refer to cashed up tradies.

I'll try though. The paraphrase most likely refers to the cultural profiling of men into low paid blue collar work. Being a real man is about pain. I'll explain.

Real men work in manual jobs and get paid crap all. The cause of this is unknown. Likely it is cultural. The term "real man" evolved from the surrounding cultural identities of men caught in the cycle of low paid blue collar work.

Has a Y chromosome.

Sorry to sound glib but that is my real answer. I don't feel my sense of being a man is dependpant on anythng else, and the characteristics that I admire in male role models are also present in females. I can list those characteristics in that context if you wish.
 

I agree with what you say about the Y chromosome and would also be very interested in seeing your gender indiscriminate list of admirable characteristics.
