It's hard to discern a pattern in the violence that has wracked the Swedish capital Stockholm for five nights.

Rioting in the city's suburbs has raised the national debate about immigration, unemployment and social inequality.

The cars attacked in the violence are not high-end - not the BMWs and Porsches you might expect to see torched by class warriors - but the vans which ordinary people need to go about their business.

Schools, a station and a library have been attacked as well as a bank and a police station.

In the areas affected, local people said the motive of the youths making trouble was anger over joblessness.

Some said it was simply a matter of criminality and parents were to blame for not controlling their offspring better.

There was a widespread assertion that the violence was not motivated by Islamist ideology.

Child awarded $9k after being sexually abused by another child at day care

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has awarded a child $9,000 and a right to ongoing counselling after she was sexually abused by another child at a day care centre.

The tribunal heard the girl was hit, kicked, undressed and sexually abused.

Both children will turn five this year.

The victim's mother reported the abuse to police, but it was not investigated because of the children's age.

The tribunal, sitting last month, heard the victim needs counselling for anxiety and she now fears going to day care.

Former House of Reps Peter Slipper being sued over unpaid legal fees

Former House of Representatives speaker Peter Slipper is being sued over hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid legal fees.

The law firm Maurice Blackburn has confirmed it has filed a claim in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

The firm had represented Mr Slipper in his sexual harassment lawsuit until April this year.

The system has huge flaws in it, public life seems to attract the worst in society, ok, BUT they get in that's the worrying part.
