ASF 2005 Alumni (or 2004-2006)

LOL, every time i see something about S.Barb mines i think of Chicken!!

Ha! I remember that! SBM was one of the first stocks I traded regularly. Made a bit of money from it but it was also a big lesson watching people become emotionally addicted to a stock.

So, where will a ASF lunch/dinner be held then?

You're all invited to my place

No.286 Pubei Lu
Luxu Wujiang, Jiangsu

I've just remembered Realist. He was the most fundamental of fundamentalists.
Anyone else recall his avid defence of Westfield as it trended down, and down, and down....

Hi All

I certainly do remember Prospector!

Also Chicken and young trader. I don't have as much interest in the shares these days. Been burnt by Bemax and Lodestone(Coalbank) in particular.

My contribution on here is now limited to the odd AFL, ABC, and political thread when I get time. Duckling no 4 starts school this year Where does the time go?

Thanks for posting on this thread and lets use it to keep in touch. Good to see there are still a few of us about sails!

Cheers

November 2005 for me so that means I am an alumni

I haven't traded stocks since 2 weeks before the crash, I was reading a lot of posts elsewhere by the Big Kahuna and found him rather good. His argument was rather thought provoking along the lines of the market R:R was all wrong at the time.

Fortunately I decided to sell all stocks except my favourite.................... should have sold them all

I have been dabbling in Forex since, I was doing reasonable, not good, just reasonable, but in the past 6 months Forex has been a very different market than previously so I am currently not trading.

The market has always been manipulated but with the huge number of private traders dropping out of the market the HFT algos and Funds are now such a large proportion of the market that I am not sure what will happen in the future.

As can be seen by the false announcement by that greenie activist during the week, plunges and spikes which used to be a speccy thing seem to happen to all stocks now. Once price triggers are hit the algos step in and dump and any Stop Losses are triggered.

I am having a rethink for a week or two trying to decide what I am going to trade this year.

Hi Julia,

I'm still popping in from time to time. Mrs Frink and I had our first frinklet last year which takes up most of my spare time these days.

Hope all is well with you

Hi Frinky, How nice to hear from you. Congratulations on the frinklet. Hope you still have the doggies also.
Cheers

I've been going since October 2004.

Have learnt to take people less seriously.

Now more heavily invested in shares than I have ever been.

Some good comments, humour and thinking here.
and, another decade on, what's your thinking, @Knobby22 ?

I am less involved in picking stocks as built a new house and invested in a mining startup which I will tell everyone about one day.
With regard the membership there are now some really good stock picker and traders.

There are a few now though that were once pretty normal but have lost their bearings and imo/fallen down the rabbit hole which is a bit sad.

I think we became a bit awful soon after my last post, with some very average behaviour that drove away some good people. Julia's death and lack of her benign influence as well as external factors contributed.

Think we have been getting better lately due to advances in controlling the website and some new blood, you Dona have had a part in that.
