All these rate increases are strengthening the Aussie and doing quite a lot of damage to companies that are paid in U.S. Dollars.
Are interest rate increases infact damaging the Australian economy in an insane effort to keep inflation down, as a first priority?
Just wait until we get to the competitive devaluation stage...

Well we have our rise and can expect the banks to pass all of it onto the mortgage payer , but business can expect worse by the end of the quarter .
We have 6.75% on the board as the official rate , but ........ a squizzy at the 90 day bill shows the rise there to have hit 7.12% , now that is the rate at which the banks have to pay to raise the lending war chests . I'm sure they will have no hesitation in shoving that across the counter to the business lender to carry .

It's the drought that is causing the inflation...apparently..
But it's the Government that is giving us the prosperity... :D

November 7. Over DowJones. The PM is referring to private banks who usually hike lending rates to their customers following RBA hikes. The RBA hiked its cash rate 25 bps to 6.75%. The PM believes that private banks should not hike their lending rates above the 25 bp hike by the RBA. Mr Howard adds that the drought has pushed up underlying inflation.

Remember that rate rise we had and it was blamed on the sky rocketing price of Bananas:D

lol, bet home owners wish they hadn't put bananas in the weekly shopping trolley:p:

I am so glad I am not a home owner, cause the rent I pay right now is dirt cheap in comparison to buying a home!
