Tomorrow being Anzac Day, here in Perth the weather forecast is not to flash (2-9mm forecast) for the parade, which is a shame.
I will be watching from home with dear old Dad's medals on a cushion in front of the TV, as I have done for the past 3 years.

You should put them on and wear them to the local service. But, if it's too inclement, a cushion in front of the TV is very good. I'm sure he'd appreciate that.

Guildford in WA is one of only 3 heritage suburbs in Perth. Of interest is that any house that had a soldier leave to war from it, is entitled to a a permanent poppy plaque.

Recently completed is this statue to the 10th light horse, in time for this year's commemoration.

Evening Sean. For the last 3 years (and this is the 4th) this has been what I have been doing. For the first 3 because of the serious injuries I had This was the only way I could celebrate Anzac day.
As a bye the bye I seem to remembr that our good mate the Rabbit was doing this in rememberance of his forebears when on that other now defunct site.

From the ANZAC's 100 years later. Where have we gone wrong?

Wayne I wasn't aware of the Guildford Light Horse Statue. Will check iy out next when traversing through the historic town. I presume it is located on the park opposite the Old Goal and Courthouse??

Lest We Forget

"The time has come" an Australian said,
"Bye" as he faced the door and ran ahead.
The war has started the battle begun,
Smack,boom,crash went the lethal gun.
Oww, the pain, other soldiers cried,
Most of their friends sadly died.
All the solders tried to laugh in glee,
But they all missed their family.
Every battle the bugle sang,
The soldiers heard the deafening bang.
Soon the battle is going to end,
The pain inside will never mend.
How they wished to be back home,
Safe and snug and not alone,
More and more people die,
As more soldiers painfully cry.
When it's the end of war,
They knock happily at their door,

Soldiers go to Flanders field,
With the poppies they wield,
People look at the poppies red,
Like their blood on the graveyards head,
We remember the soldiers, who fought and died.
And all their mates fighting by their side.
We thank the soldiers who kept us alive,
And the times in war they had to survive,
We will always remember the men,
Who gave their life to defend.

Lest we forget.

Tim Smith ? No respect.

A member of the Beaumaris RSL, who was also in attendance but not authorised to speak publicly, said the incident made him and other veterans angry.

“We haven’t got a policy to deal with ex-MPs [wrangling] wreaths,” the member said. “Some of the members think there should be one.

Wayne if an 11 year old pened this brilliant piece may he go forth and become an icon himself in the ensuing years

Albo seems to have upset folks as well.

Some people just have too much to say on an occasion such as this, when just shutting the **** up and pausing to reflect and honour might be the best approach.

Anzac Day 2024
Reflection time for all those brave souls who gave the ultimate so that we can have the country we have today.
What a pity the scum that inhabit this wonderful place don't have the same respect.
Yep "Teachers for Palestine". Bunch of Marxists in cosplay. I think it dribbled in from Ireland?
Listening to one of them and they had no idea what Anzac day was about.

Sad as it is when I went to school Anzac Day was celebrated the day before with all the pomp and pander it deserved.
We had back then in the distant past a former AIF person each tear come and give us the nuts and bolts of those fateful days.
It is some of memories I still cherish and will take to my final resting place.
Unfortunately, a different time and era today.
Today near the farm we have some clown going hammer and tongs with a commercial tree mulcher from 7am.
Long gone are the days when no commercial work was undertaken until after12.30pm on the day.

Well, I've just been to Bunnings who had the decency to shut for half a day.
