Just had quick look at first & second pages of A-H stock thread 07/04 to early 05.
Of the 20 stocks above, 14 are no longer listed, 5 are miles down in price 1 is positive.
Every day some asf members are promoting stocks that will end up biting the dust. You can't have rose coloured glasses playing this game.

Do those delisted ones include the ones that were bought out, and thus holders may have actually made a profit from them?

CDO for example was bought out by ARH Investments, a subsidiary of Equity Affinity Partners.

I've only had a quick look, the point is once a company starts having delays, tight cash, missing targets etc etc etc why get into them or why not cut losses? Have a look at some of the posts from members then eg Why, can anyone explain, hpoe there is an announcement soon, oh well another opportunity to buy etc etc
Same sort of comments we read every day on this forum currently. History will repeat itself.

Hi,

Good pick-up Cab Sav.

What most investors fail to see is that in the long term nearly all stocks are toast. This is simply just the history of the past repeating.

It is not just the low priced issues that this happens to. Of the top 50 stocks from 25 years ago, there are very few in the top 50 now, perhaps only BHP,RIO and 3 big banks. Yet the indexes would have everyone believe investment for the long term is profitable.

yes agree - all too much are we led to believe that investing in 'blue chips' is safe. At the end of the day they are subjected to the same systematic risk and macro environement, and they are also subjected to greed. NAB is a classic example - I mean how many mistakes? I feel sorry for dedicated long term investors whom have suffered issue after issue, rogue traders, sub prime exposure etc etc. Add to this the systematic risk that is hitting everything at the moment and no longer are the 'blue chips' safe investments. I wonder how many people have lost their retirement money.
