What would be an ideal xmas for you?

e.g...................I would love it if my xmas day was spent.....[you have to be honest!]

MERRY XMAS EVERYONE!

Anywhere without Jingle Bell Rock or I'm Dreaming of a Whoyeyeyeyeyete Xmas or any kind of Xmas music playing in shopping centres or other large public places.

I'm not at all into religion, never have been, but I'd seriously like to see an end to "Xmas". Thought it had gone a couple of years ago but it seems to be making a comeback.

It's Christmas.

Funny, i feel the same as you and always take the extra time to type out Christmas. It just feels like the right thing to do.

Cheers,

if you force us to type 9 letters instead of 4, (Xmas)then we'll just take twice as long to type it . nothing else.
I mean not all of us use more than 1 or 2 fingers to type with -
personally, I think xmas is gr8 m8. makes me more efficient. ;)

btw, you'd think kids would be taught to touch type at school wouldn't you? - these days? considering they'll spend 75% of their lives behind a keyboard. :2twocents

an ideal xmas? - something else besides computer lol.

It wouldn't bother me if it were a more widely applied practice to words other than Christmas.

For example, I've never seen "AFL Grand Final" abbreviated to "AFFIN" (Aussie Football FINal" which would be far more efficient. We don't even seem to cut it back to AFLGF. It's always written in full or at least "grand final". And it's only football anyway. Or for that matter we don't even abbreviate Australia Day to Ozday which would also be a lot easier to say and type. Hence I don't see the need for Xmas, especially not on shop signs, catalogues etc where it is common.

Not that it really bothers me that much. :)

Took the words out of my mouth, Ghoti. And it started in early November.

A good Christmas imo would be one where the emphasis was much less on consumerism in all its forms and much more on thinking about some of the people who are entirely without human companionship at this "festive" time of the year.

have a good one m8 ;) - and thanks for all that technical stuff through the year.
Your original post had me going - like , I thought you were against both Xmas and Christmas for a while lol - whatever - not that it bothers me either. Must say if we sat back and had a good look at ourselves - I suspect we'd find that any similarity with christian ideals is pretty difficult to find :)

the kids used to sing this one..
http://www.answers.com/topic/rudolph-the-red-nosed-reindeer
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (reindeer)
Had a very shiny nose (like a lightbulb)
And if you ever saw him (saw him)
You would even say it glows (like a lightbulb)

All of the other reindeer (reindeer)
Used to laugh and call him names (like Pinocchio)
They never let poor Rudolph (Rudolph)
Join in any reindeer games (like Monopoly)

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say (in his underwear!), or (G'day!) - Australian version
"Rudolph, with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" (all right!)

Then all the reindeer loved him (loved him)
As they shouted out with glee: (Yippee!)
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, (reindeer)
You'll go down in history! (like Columbus)

Or, as it was sung on The Simpsons:

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows (like a lightbulb)

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names (like shnozzola!)
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games (like Strip Poker)

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph, get your nose over here,
Won't you guide my sleigh... today." - Homer couldn't remember the lyrics correctly and made up the rest.

Then all the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee:
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You'll go down in history! - Bart then ends the song with: like Attila the Hun before Homer cuts off Bart's singing by choking him.

The 1960 version produced by Alvin and the Chipmunks is done in a straightforward way, except that Rudolph joins the boys, and it is clear from his voice that he is "stuffed up" with a head cold, as he is unable to say certain words correctly, and this is presumed to be the explanation for his nose being red:

Rudolph with your dose so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh todight?

There definitely needs to be some sport on Xmas day, some pr0n in the stocking and a day on the p1ss and some lovin action to finish off the day - followed by a month off work.
