In regards to the Amibroker packages, what are the differences between the Standard and Professional Edition that would be a benefit?

Was considering purchasing the Standard Edition with the AFL Code Wizard, but would also consider the UltimatePack Pro if it's worth it.

Thanks.

Hey Kolonel

This sums it up pretty well:

Pro Vs Std

but basically, if you will only ever want EOD I'd stick with std. If you think you might go intraday, get Pro.

I'd also suggest if advanced backtesting finally makes it into Ami then it would be on the Pro version, but that's just a guess.

AmiBroker already has pretty advanced backtesting.

What additional advancements are you referring to?

GP

Agreed, the backtesting in Ami has been more than adequate for my purposes to date too. I was referring to Monte Carlo which rumour has it will be coming out soon in Ami. Mind you, those rumours have been floating around for quite some time...

Is it reasonable to assume (should never assume anything) that the difference between the standard and professional version is that the standard is suitable for EOD trading, and professional is for day trading? I was contemplating which version to get.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Spot on Kolonel.

You can always upgrade to pro later anyway.
