Hey All,

Just got a few AmiBroker questions that I'd like to ask...

1. How do add securities to my database? I'm trying to find EVE but it's not there. I am using EOD data from Yahoo if that means anything.
2. How do I set AmiBroker up to run a scan across the entire database for stock matching certain criteria? - Understand that this may be a lengthy explaination but if anyone could recommend a resource that they've used to do this that'd be helpful.

Thanks all and have a great weekend.

You define your criteria in an AFL script file and then run it from "Analysis->Automatic Analysis" either as a scan or exploration, depending on exactly how you wrote it.

Writing AFL scripts is something that you just have to learn, and it may take a while if you're not already familiar with computer programming.

Cheers GP,

Have to explore the language used in AB and know what to define the criteria on what I am looking for. Reading through a few net tutorials now, it'll all become clearer in time.

I'll be back with more questions soon ;)

Thanks to you both.

Amibroker

Hi All,
I am just changing over to Amibroker and i have a few questions.

1. I am looking at getting my data from Just Data is there any one better or cheaper.

2. I am also looking at changing over to an Apple mac. Has any one experience problems in using Amibroker in windows mode on an Apple mac.

Thanks
Vito

Re: Amibroker

Certainly cheaper, but that's not better. You can get free EOD data from Float.com.au but it's not adjusted for splits, etc. You could also try premiumdata from Norgate.

No idea about Macs though.

Re: Amibroker

I use Ami Broker on mac via Parallels http://www.parallels.com/and it works fine. The only this that you should consider if doing this, is to have ample ram available for the windows emulation, it does get memory hungry! I've been using it this way for 6 months and it's been great. If you take this option, try 'Coherence' mode, it's will run Ami Broker as it's a native Mac OS X application and you wont need to switch from a windows environment to a mac and vice versa... Message me if you need to know more.

Re: Amibroker

Thats actually very reassuring to know that it works on a Mac in parallels...I can't get over my lust for a Mac at some time in the future...they just look sooooo sexy. But I held back at my last equipment purchase because I was worried I'd have big issues with my trading software Amibroker & Market Analyst.

6 months is long enough to conclude its stable. Good work Borat!

Re: Amibroker

Another question regarding Amibroker and data.

I have been looking at getting amibroker with a live data feed but am also looking at moving to Macquaire Prime with live data for around $40 p/m. Is there a way to use this data as my feed for amibroker (ie through quotetracker or something) or do I need to use another live data feed?

Thanks, I'm a total novice when it comes to these things

I agree Mr Gorilla. I would love to have sex with a Mac one day too. I have a dingy looking Dell what a piece of crap it is.

Borat,
good work.

smart amibroker people this :If I get Amibroker, how can I connect it with the existing data and can I use both programs(amibroker or metastock).I wonder if I download Amibroker, would it find the way to the shares file?
Any feedback would be very wellcome
