Alan Jones expressed his opinion on who he thought did it. He is in the profession of getting paid for his opinions. Although I don't concur with his opinion on this and view his call to limit foreign student intake into Australia absurd (though that doesn't mean there shouldn't be stringent background checks), is he any worse than the hundreds of others who have offered their opinion on who the culprits may be? For instance, how about this guy: Peter Neumann, professor of security studies at King’s College, London?

I suspect if one just emailed both links to all media advertising on his shows, they would run 100 miles an hour away. Seems like some have. As for his views on the bushfires .... and climate denial ... even after the fires, he still was if anything even more strident in total denial meanwhile, read the first article again and again.

Broadcaster Alan Jones has come out fighting against Nine Newspapers, saying he has instructed his lawyers to commence ludicrously expensive defamation proceedings which will spectacularly blow up in his face late next year.

Jones has engaged the same specialist law firm used by Ben Roberts-Smith and Bruce Lehrmann, known for its unique ability to cater to the needs of overconfident litigious Australian men.

“These claims against me are libellous and unfounded and I look forward to further tarnishing my name in a lengthy, expensive court case that will uncover previously unknown facts about my past behaviour in excruciating detail,” Jones said in a statement.

The former 2GB broadcaster said media outlets were now on notice. “Let me be very clear. If you publish these salacious things about me, then I will launch an incredibly high-profile court case that will call witnesses, uncover new evidence, forensically examine my life and give you daily fodder for your mastheads for at least the next eighteen months”.

Alan Jones sense of total control/power over anyone has been the cornerstone of his shock jock media career for 30 years. Finally enough worms have turned to put him in the dock and answer for his actions.
 
Imagine an outcome at the end of this process where Jones goes off to an institution chock'a'block full of buff young blokes, with time on their hands, so many of them compromised in many different ways who could be advantaged by some connected to 'high-ups' on the outside. Someone close with types like ex-prime minister Howard, 'pick and stick' James Packer; a list that goes on and on, not unlike Alan.

If convicted I think he would be more likely to get home detention or community service. I doubt they would put him in jail at his age.

an interesting anecdote on jones in the AFR...

"One time, when I was the executive producer for the 2GB afternoon show, I was sent to Canberra for a week. It was me, the host I was working with, the breakfast producers and their host, Alan Jones.

"We were a small group and had a few obligatory social events with clients. If I was conspicuous, it was because I was the only woman on that trip, and the only producer not working on breakfast.

"Despite this – and to my immense amusement – Jones introduced himself to me no less than four times in just three days.

"Every interaction went the same way. Jones, thinking I was a client or perhaps a fan, would go to shake my hand. He was smiling then, full of charm. I would take his hand and tell him, again, that I was from 2GB. In an instant, the beatific expression fell from his face like a meat pie dropped on concrete. Suddenly all jowls and scorn, he’d walk away without another word.

"For Alan Jones, women – especially young women – were completely below his notice. I could never muster any energy to be offended. I found these interactions to be funny, so I filed them away as fodder for future dinner parties. In fact, if I felt anything towards Jones at that time, it was pity...
 
Talking of books Peez ... Xmas is coming and what better than to find under the tree, a parcel with a card from Santa with your name on it containing 'The Allan Jones Mark Latham Crook book' 1st edition. (subs please check spelling).... (we did..... seems fine, but we do feel crook)
