Has anyone used any 'trading techniques' or analysis to decide what players to purchase?

it would be interesting to see player's points from last year on a chart - rather than going by average points, and total points for the year.
Andrew Mcleod had an average first half season, but then turned the clock back and started scoring high.

OK - I have a system to choose my players based on 'loose mathematics and analysis' which is probably more technical than what most people use to trade with (joke), and the winners for my forward line are:

(ADE) WALKER, Taylor
(BRL) POLKINGHORNE, James
(SYD) GRUNDY, Heath [DEF]
(GEE) HAWKINS, Tom
(WBD) HAHN, Mitch
(COL) ANTHONY, John

(WBD) HILL, Josh

However I will not reveal the rest of my team! + I am not quiet so sure about having a defender in the forward line (GRUNDY?) Also not a fan of Hawkins..
