Allways a sad day for me. Step Grandfather killed in France 1stww, Grandfather on the same front died young from the gas. Five Uncles and my Dad on war fronts all died under 55 years of age and in the main they were forlorn men. However they did love Anxac Day and the meeting with old mates along the Yarra.

Afganistan, a disgrace that we are there at all. Feel for the troops and Family mind, but our leaders led by the money side of the world (coin) continue to let us all down.

And now a base for the seppos in Darwin. When the US really capitulate, their massive numbers of unemployed and angry people will be made to learn it is all China's fault and so the greatest arsenal ever put together in history will be unleashed. And we are going to be a prime and very close base. I could go on and some of you will hit bck so will leave it to then.

Funny, we can have olympics, play tennis and soccer across all borders yet we cannot be all friends working together at the Governmental levels.

THREE Australian soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan by an Afghan soldier.

Defence confirmed the killings, while Julia Gillard, who is in the Cook Islands attending the Pacific Islands Forum, is preparing to make a statement on the latest casualties of the conflict.

Defence said it was in the process of informing the soldier's next of kin.

The deaths take the Australian toll in Afghanistan to 36 since 2002.

The incident happened yesterday in the southern Afghan province of Oruzgan, where Australia leads the NATO contingent.

The International Security Assistance Force confirmed it was an "insider attack'' carried out by a man in Afghan Army uniform.

But Ms Gillard said Australia remained committed to the mission in Afghanistan and would not alter its withdrawal timetable.

As terrible as this is, it still may be worthwhile. Not to have helped Afghanistan, but just to have backed the US. We'll find out one day in the future when we may need their assistance. Again. Hopefully not in our lifetime though.

I doubt it. If anything, this has shown that the US cannot be relied upon to be dependable in a military sense and conflict in the 21st century.

This war has no sense, no purpose, and no attainable goal, it is time we ended our involvement in this 'conflict' before more of our brave soldiers needlessly die.

While our Diggers are getting murdered in Afghanistan by Afghans, our Navy is busy ferrying thousands of Afghan "refugees" to Christmas Island and searching for those who get lost in transit. And Gillard is a keen supporter of both actions.:screwy:

When you add the cost of the action in Afghanistan and the cost of accommodating the Afghan runaways is must amount to reach massive proportions.
