Hello everyone,

What I wander is, if really a software is needed in order to find or scan for raising stocks and to see how a stock you have bought is doing in the stock market.

Especially when one starts in the stock market and does not have the means to buy a good and expensive software.

Is there a website or a way to find raising stocks in the ASX website without going through the hassle of checking each and every stock?

My aim is to find only raising stocks other than blue chip ones. It does not matter if it is unknown one so long as it is raising or going up and is $14.00+ in price.

If indeed a software is needed which one do you recommend that is good, simple and effective.

What do you think of Metastock or Protrader?

Also I want to know what the minimum amount limit is to buy stocks or shares in the stock market.

I am looking forwards to your advise folks. Thank you.

If this is the case your grossly undercapitalised.
Place your funds under professional management.

Hello Salenvalls & Tech/a

I have to agree with Tech here, if you cannot afford software then you are vastly undercapitalised.

Success in the stock market comes from selling shares for a higher price than what you paid for them and accurate identification of high probability transactions is extremely difficult without the use of good analytical software.

Most of the readily available, well supported packages are relatively cheap, you can get good quality software, which will do more than most people will use, along with 12 mths data supply for less than $900, most will never use the complexity or tools of programs such as Metastock, Bullcharts etc.

I have been using Market Analyst for in excess of 2 years, and have found its Training Mode to be invaluable in testing strategies on historical data, in effective real time.

I used STEX prior to that and this is an excellent tool for beginners to use as it is clear, concise and easy to learn, however with a few years experience you may outgrow it.

IC Investor is also a great product, and I would be using that except it does not have the training mode capabilities which Market Analyst does, and I find this feature almost indispensible in a training environment.

Overall there are many good programs out there with a great deal of flexibility, at reasonable prices which you can purchase.

Have a great day

Pete

Can't go past Amibroker for value. Once you get setup with good, clean and reliable data you will be looking at 4-500 AUD for the first year. Then its just data cost every year.

They have a free trial, and you can get some free data to play with.

Cheers,
