Being of a very advanced age, I am acquainted with the Three Stooges, Larry Curly and Moe.

I am sick and tired of listening to Fran Kelly with her lefty views being followed by Michelle Grattan, of The Age of all newspapers, as an inarticulate leftie seer, every weekday morning, regurgitating their predictable left wing rhetoric.

Would the ABC not consider adding a Moe to the 2 Stooges.

Perhaps a Newscorp political editor.

It might lend some balance.

Its getting like Germany in the 1930's on our morning airwaves.

gg I know it's a bit off topic but I couldn't resist .....

lol +++

One of my goyles is a lawyer in Cairns,

I'll show it to her next time I'm through.

Again lol

gg

But seriously aint Fran and Michelle a double act of leftie propaganda.

I fully expect Victor from Pravda to intervene at the end of their oh so tiresome double act.

gg

Try this challenge:

Put out a money box. Add $1 to it every time you hear a major ABC radio news bulletin that has a reference to, and usually a live quote from, a Greens Senator. Give the hundreds of dollars collected over tweve months to your favourite charity (preferably not the Conservation Foundation, or WWF - maybe the Flying Doctor).

Or perhaps you could send it to the ABC to help pay for the office that it appears Bob Brown occupies in their Canberra studios!

GG, doesn't your Astor radiogram have a dial? You could always tune into someone else!:D

lol

My Astor is an Astor Sinbad Dynamic and it only picks up the f*****g ABC.

gg

I thought you'd have an EKCO underdash valve unit in the AEC Mercury.....

I'm going to try something I've never been game to try before , bullet points on asf

  • Garpals advice for Lefties on ABC
  • 1. Too left wing
  • 2. How many valves are we talking about with the Astor?
  • 3. M.Grattan is not good radio, stutters, carries on.
  • 4. HOW MANY VALVES ?
  • 5. I quite like Fran, met her a few times and she is a good person.

gg

The thing is, gg, that you really don't have many alternatives. The commercial stations are utter rubbish and the ABC Local Radio option goes to regional stations at that hour which are ghastly.
I don't know if you still have the radio on later in the morning, but if you do, then "Life Matters" on Radio National 9 - 10am is often quite good, and "The Interview" with Margaret Throsbie on Classic FM from 10 - 11am is usually first class. She has some really interesting subjects and the hour is actually not an insult to your intelligence.

But to your original complaint, for sure the ABC has a decided left wing bias.
One programme which offers a bit of balance is "Counterpoint" with Michael Duffy.

Agree, I have all podcasts or transcripts of Michael d and his sidekick and enjoy them.

I also note that Phillip Adams as he ages is not as one eyed as he was and have kept his podcasts.

Fran and Michelle are quite disreputable though.

The left ABC lives on when I'm putting my dax on each morning with these two challenging gals.

When I retire I'll be full on with my old Astor in to Rn, its a great channel.

GG, if you can, update to a radiogram. On mine I can put on a record and thereby listen to some recorded music instead of the wireless.

I actually have a recording of Fran Kelly and Michelle Grattan on a 78, thats how long their left rant has been going for on ABC Radio.

The ABC should have more political balance.

Having Labor in power both in the parliament and on the ABC is unfair.

Its a bit like china, sorry Joel for bringing you in to it.

gg

Assuming I am at home, I prefer to listen to ABC News Radio, streamed over the Internet. I use a Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget and can choose from a plethora of ABC Radio channels; including ABC Newsradio, RN, Triple J etc etc

What??? I've been in Oz for 16 years, always listened to Radio National, and Fran Kelly took over hosting Breakfast only a few years ago from Peter Thomson. If I remember correctly, in those days Fran Kelly was in the role that Michelle Grattan holds now. Then she went to the UK for a few years, then took up the Host position on her return.

Think you're having a lend of us, gg!!

It seems like its that long, its the equivalent of having to listen to one of Fidel Castro's 6 hour rants to the assembled haemorrhoidal mob of believers in the stadium at Havana.

Fran and Michelle, every bloody weekday morning.

I'd pay 8c a day to get rid of them, nonsensical repetitive left blather, letting polies off the hook at every turn.

gg

To balance, here's a neo con righty. Let me guess GG, you have a life size poster of Piers Akerman on your bedroom ceiling?? Yes, you'd need a lot of ceiling for him allright :D. Or don't you get him up there in the boondocks? He's also seen on the ABC Insiders program.

Dear Uncle,

I don't like Piers output all that much to be honest. That's the great thing about being on the right, you don't have to toe the party line all the time, every day.

Your argument is a bit relativist.

All I'm saying is that these two Havana hippies are spending their declining years in well paid jobs on our national broadcaster boring the crap out of listeners with their predictable left wing crap and not putting ministers of the Crown on the spot when a commentator from the right might add some balance to Fran.

gg, have you actually expressed this view to the producers of the programme?

The other right wing person on "The Insiders" is Andrew Bolt. Don't much care for him or Akerman.
