60 Minutes takes our journalistic aggression overseas

There would be some justification for those actions if the father had not allowed any contact.

Pretty sure there isn't any justification in hiring a kidnap crew and assaulting grandma's with a trashy news crew in tow.

Let's see how 60 Minutes spins this. Fact is, they got their butts kicked in Lebanon.

The father got custody of the kids, and given that he had them over a barrel, Ch 9 were forced to reach a "settlement" with him. $$$

Yep, they should all be stay at home Mums and let hubby bring in the moolah !

We may get back to civilisation one day.

I don't know the truth, but the story doing the rounds is that the kids were born and part raised in Lebanon, before mum decided the kids and hubby would be better over in Oz. Hubby couldn't settle happily in Oz and took the kids back to Lebanon to visit grandma, who had been a hands on extended family mum with the kids. Dad decided no to return.

If the kids are Lebanese citizens she would have Buckley's of getting them back, if they are Aussie citizens then our laws should prevail.

Rumour is that the dollars is in the range of $200,000 to $400,000. Murdoch press said it might be $2 mil. I doubt that figure though. + he got custody. Big win to the Dad.

They will try to spin it as journalism.

This is not journalism, journalism is reporting on events, not creating an event to report on.
They are going out and intentionally creating an event so their "journalists" portray it as something of significance on 60 (wasted) minutes.

Why not just create a car accident on the M1 and then get the chopper to fly over it and get the "journalist" who caused the accident to report on their close to death experience - same crappy fodder for idiots tv.

Been done already.

I personally think they were very lucky, the kidnap team employed, weren't Australian.

IMO it would have probably become an international incident.

Imagine if a group of highly trained ex SAS guys were involved, it would have been seen as an Australian incursion into Lebanon in order to circumvent their legal systems.
Maybe it was good planning they used a British team, maybe it was pure luck.

It just shows the arrogance of our media, it is beyond the pale, but has been nurtured by no one pulling them into line here.IMO

Didn't watch but saw this quote from brown:

Seriously....
I wonder if hiring hit men and filming the act would be just doing their jobs. They seem to think they are above the law.

Shame they didn't wear a couple of years.

+1, How the hell they think they are above the law, just shows the audacity of Australian journalists.

They hired the Kidnap team, they organised everyone getting there, they organised the place and time of the kidnap.
But they aren't responsible because they are just a film crew, what a joke, someone needs to give the Australian media a wake up call.
Obviously self regulation isn't working.IMO

What's funny moXJO, is some posters on here, think it was just a stunt gone wrong.FFS
